also, i think this is a category where there are obviously a lot of people here on the forum ready to help test and write our summary opinions of any program you want some feedback on.

so nudone,
are you set for your 2 part review to begin on monday?
i am going to be online constantly and am happy to help, edit, test, etc.
and i will send you some html template files that you can use.

btw
i think all guest reviewers should set up a paypal or some other account that can receive donations, so that at the very least we can have a link from the reviews for people to make a donation to the reviewer if they want to show support.  certainly you shouldn't expect much but maybe enough for a celebratory dinner, etc. though you might have to celebrate at mcdonalds :)

Perhaps 'windows', 'web ', 'camera' or 'design' could be used for classifying the various formats?
Personnally I'm only really interested in the first two. RAW's nice but you probably have to have a digital camera that produces it to be of any use, same goes for having the programs that produce the 'design' formats.

yes, monday should be okay.

i'll chat with you more about it probably starting from tomorrow. try and clarify a few things and see where we all want to head on it.

(i was trying to be clever and do everything inside a virtual pc but i've just hit a slight problem with picassa not wanting to display things with the graphics driver. so i just need to sort my main pc out a bit and install things on there.)

ha, ha. great to see all those screens again. i started on photoshop 3, stuck with version 4 and ignored 5 for some unknown reason. now i'm up to date.

i just wanted to say that i really did enjoy looking at the previous versions prior to what i had.

dude, how sad is that?

Although it's primarily a printing program, you might like to have a look at Qimage: http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/  I tend to use it as my graphics viewer because I'm usually viewing stuff prior to printing. I also use it for most routine editing, I only open up Photoshop for really serious edits and manipulations. Certainly, it's software produced and supported in a way which would be appreciated on this forum.

ACDSee 8 does away with requiring a database altogether if you prefer. JP, I think you'll like its Smart Select option in its file manager. One of the BIG reasons I prefer ACDSee is because I can view and edit a huge number of photos very quickly. However, I use the thumbnail view (8 horizontal). When you have over 440,000 photos and movies like I do, you need something to sift through them and not choke.

Do you mean to say that "ACDSee 8 will do away", rather than "does away"?  Or is it available in beta somewhere?

Sorry for the confusion. Beta testing for version 8 should be completed in the next month or two, and I'm one of those guys. Good beta testing is so exhausting, but in this case, it's worth it if you can have an impact on a program you use daily.
