FARR will not start after latest Windows 8.1 update

My Windows 8.1 OS just finished updating this morning, and now FARR will not run.  I have located the .exe file and tried to run from there.  The tray icon appears but nothing happens, and then when I mouse over the icon it disappears.  I uninstalled FARR and reinstalled the latest version.  Same result!  WTF!? Help!

Anyone else with new Windows 8.1 have this same problem?

Yes, I tried rebooting.  No change.  Have switched to Launchy...

Some of the updates were bad and can be removed.............

Isn't launchy that product that has not seen an update in....a while?

I'd pull the updates listed in that ZDNet article. MS is working on a patch so going back to pre-problem date and then re-installing updates when the patch is issued may put you back where to want to be 

Neither Launchy nor FARR caused the problem, so penicillin won't help
