Awesome thanks for adding this Skwire :)
Unfortunately, mine seems to be adding "URL" tags rather than "IMG" tags!   :D

Note to others: The INI is not in the Screenshot Captor/Tools folder, it's in the App Data Folder..  Such as C:\Users\<my name>\AppData\Roaming\Skwire Empire\sImgurUploader

What's the difference between "img" tag and "url" tag?

It was a screwup on my part.  kunkel321 had asked for [img] tags and I initially coded it (wrongly) as [url] tags.

I still don't understand the difference?  Are both tags the same thing?

Do they look the same?

So I guess according to google that "img" is short for image.  Wasn't aware there was one.

Apologies, I should have been more specific.  kunkel321 had asked for the image URL to be wrapped like this:

[img]http://i.imgur.com/ErDIg9W.jpg[/img]

I had initially coded his request like this:

[url]http://i.imgur.com/ErDIg9W.jpg[/url]

Does that help clear things up?

Forgive me skier but coding is like learning a foreign language!   :D

Doesn't both tags do the same thing?

If you have both tags on the same page referring to the same photo, won't both show the same photo or image?

@techidave: one shows the image in-line while the other points to the location which you have to click to view. :)

e.g. this is a link

this is the image

actually the button is due to the [spoiler] tag since the image was quite large and i didn't want to annoy anyone by leaving such a large image out in the open. :)

another example without the spoiler tag:
i type this: [img]http://i.imgur.com/5ZrVJmi.png[/img]

and i get this:

You must have your own Imgur Anonymous API key for this application to work.  On its first run, sImgurUploader will ask you to enter your API key.  Without one, the application will exit.  If you do not have an Imgur Anonymous API key, you can get one here: http://imgur.com/register/api_anon.

anyone got any tips for getting the API key?
Dont know what to select here at #1. Also no clue with #2:

=> I'm veering towards 'b' for #1 (with #2 empty then), but thought I'd better check :)

thanks
Tom

hmm, they must have changed the registration part. previously there was only a "register an application" page where you key-in your name/email/app desc. then enter a reCaptcha code and you're good to go. The following page will give you your API key.

sImgurUploader only works with an anonymous API account so I'd choose the "Anonymous usage without user authorization" option (and leave the second part blank).

What application name to use, sImgurUploader?
AFAICS, it requires a callback URL, suggestions?
And where can we change/replace the API key used by sImgurUploader? Found it, {userprofile}\AppData\Roaming\Skwire Empire\sImgurUploader\sImgurUploader.ini

I'm not allowed to leave part two blank :-(

Screenshot - 2014-01-30 , 22_04_28.pngNANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader

So,
I tried 1b (see post #35) and got this:

Screenshot - 2014-01-30 , 23_25_27.pngNANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader

which looked to me that, for authorisation, I type
Authorization: Client-ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (xxxxx... being the client ID given)
no joy, so I tried variations with the 'Application name'; then with both Client ID's, and then everything (I think :-[) without 'Authorisation' before - tbh I made the mistake of not keeping track of everything I tried ... :-\

Any ideas :)

edit // here's the link shown in image #2 - https://api.imgur.com/oauth2
edit #2 // maybe I have to give it a bit of time (and make a sacrificial offering ;D ) before it will work?

Fooie.

I ran in to the same problem as Tomos...
Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this?

I want to use this program to send screenshots from ScreenshotCaptor.

I am not sure what settings I need for the anonymous API (I wish it would use my account though).

Application Name:  sImgurUploader
Authorization Type:  Anonymous usage without user authourization
Authorization callback URL:   ??????  What do I put here?

[edit]
Sorry - I didn't see the tail of this thread where folks asked this question already....

Skwire, there are a lot of settings there for imgur - is it still necessary to use anonymous mode?

Hi, BGM, and sorry for the trouble.  Yes, I'm aware that Imgur have really changed up things and getting an anonymous key isn't how it used to be.  Researching this is on my list but there are quite a few things ahead of it.

Jody - no problem.  Hey - I just looked at your ICQ profile (just make sure I remembered correctly that your name was Jody) - you are exactly 4 days older than me - same month; same year!

No worries for imgur - and beggars like me can't be demanders.  Thanks for the reply.

Hi Skwire and All,

It looks like Imgur is moving toward another version change in their API...  I got the following email:
Hi Imgur API user!
It looks like you’re using version 1 or 2 of the Imgur API. We’re reaching out now to let you know that, starting on March 28, 2016, these versions will no longer be supported.
We encourage you to migrate your application to Imgur API version 3 before this date. If you need some assistance with that, feel free to check out api.imgur.com for documentation. If your application uses authorization, you will also need to upgrade to oauth 2.0.
If you have any questions, we’d be happy to help at [email protected].
Best,
The Imgur API team

Is there any chance this new one will be sImgurUploader-friendly?  I guess what I'm asking is whether sImgurUploader can be made to work with it...  I already got my new creds and tried them, but they don't work.

I ran into the same problem as mentioned above, Imgur REQUIRES as callback address.  I just used my own Imgur main page, because I didn't know what else to use.

EDIT:  I checked out your (Skwire's) profile to see if you were still active....  That's an impressive lineup of badges!

As sImgurUploader stands now, there is no way it is going to work with the new API.  If I can find the time (won't be for several weeks at least), I can look into updating it for the new API.
