Yeah, knew it was too good to be true.  However, the good news is that I've received a grand total of $12.10 in donations since releasing the program which, when divided out, repays me about 30 cents for every hour I've invested in it.  :-\

I've also found a site dubbing it a codec, and another site that presents it as a version tracker -- features even I don't remember coding...

YAY~!

Money coming in is always a cause for celebration~! :)

Perhaps it's time to think about what people are paying/donating for, and build on that.

(I often tell my wife to say "Thank you, NAME" whenever we get sales. It's fun.)

Well, based on the fact that I had about 40 hours total in developing KyrCrypt, I've recouped, so far, about 35 cents for each of those hours, LOL.  Still, some recognition is better than none.  The comments I'm getting most is that people like the ability to schedulably encrypt an entire directory of files.  One guy is using it to do this, and then backup the encrypted (supposedly sensitive) info to a site using FTP.

are you getting disillusioned kyrathaba? (I'm presuming that's ironic...)
I know getting donations is -apart from the money at all- it's a nice way of getting thanked for doing/making something.

I usually donate to dc people who make software that i use. I'm afraid I'm not so good with software from other sites.

The other side of the coin is that I guess you dont really want to be in this here for the money - or if you are interested in that aspect you'd certainly have to, eh, [... insert creative business approach here].

(I'm no coder, but I did put a huge amount of work into a nany project last year - of course, for me, nany was a great opportunity, as I got a huge amount of help through it. That project was not a "success", but I dont feel I wasted my time, I learned a lot and have new ideas through it.)

[edit] with apologies if this is superfluous. I overlapped with your last post. [/edit]

Nah, not getting disillusioned.  Sorry if it came across that way.  Actually, I never really expected to get any donations, so the "Woo-Hoo, Yee-Haw" is legitimate :)

Don't feel bad... I've earned negatives. And more than 35 cents of negatives. :)

Take things for what they are, and see what you can do with them.

That means I'm up to almost 43 cents per hour spent developing it
