 I am interested in a program that could be embedded in an e-mail

it's a very interesting issue -- it can't be done in the way you are wanting, with a program embedded in the email.

but it might be possible by specifying non-real FROM info, and using your real email only in the "REPLY-TO" field.

the only danger in this case might be that it might increase the chance of your email being marked as spam.

i'm curious to hear what others think.

I would like to try this but I do not know where the REPLY-To field is.  I only see a from field.

Doesn't quite guarantee it, but is awfully close. Forged headers require either an open relay, or relay permissions. Neither is a stellar option. Best bet is a batch of disposable addresses.

this will depend on your email client -- if you are using web-based email you might not have this option.
