Here's a cool free online image generator that could be useful..
It creates an animated gif image that shows a series of text lines being typed and scrolled.. A simple but effective typewriter effect.

This is a pretty cool idea.
It could be done better though by taking a screen recorder (I use Camtasia studio 6) and then open and resize notepad to a small size and record yourself typing.
You could also change the font to what ever you want, and then you can open it in camtasia's editor and save it as a gif.
