Hmmm... Would have saved me some time a while back if I'd have know about it. I wrote an application to do the same thing! :P

Hi,
Is there any way that the current date can be added automatically to the folder name?
(I suspect not, but as I'm not a programmer don't know unless I ask).
It's really useful software, even if this cannot be done.
Many thanks.

Hi, rogerrabbit, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.

Not currently, but I certainly could add the functionality.  Stay tuned.   :D

Hi,
I could thank you - you have made it very easy indeed to configure thanks to the additional help you have built in.
Works great!
I'll keep an eye out on SnapFiles, where I first found it, and if it's updated on there I will definitely be posting a 5 star review.
Thanks again - I'm really grateful.

Hi,thanks a lot.That`s the tool for me.
and could you add a function that the text format can accept such like this:

----------begin------------
folder1
   subfolder1
   subfolder2
      subsubfolder2
   subfolder3
----------end------------

The blank character or the tab character

Hi, mandolin, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.  Let me give your request some thought.  You are aware you can create subfolders by using backslashes, right?  For example, to create your example above, you could use:

c:\folder1\subfolder1
c:\folder1\subfolder2\subsubfolder2
c:\folder1\subfolder3

I like mandolin's idea of supporting tabs to create subfolders.

Thanks.
I think , when I want to quickly build a tree folder structure from a text, the most efficient way is using the tabs(or blanks).

I love this program. Simple and effective, thank you Skwire!!
Nobody has pointed out the delight I discovered. Case scenario:
As a photographer, I had an old memory card that had files in numerical order as in 123-123-123. I dumped the contents into a single folder that already contained some folders in a numerical structure. I was concerned about overwrites of existing folders with the exact same folder name. Example: TXT file created included folders 23, 24, 25. So did the target directory, and those folders contained images;many. Here's the beauty of Text2Folder. It simply created the folders and kept the existing contents intact without ever asking if folders need to be replaced etc...Wonderful!!! Meaning I did not need to concern myself with redundant folder names! You sir are a photographers best friend! Thank you, you rock!

You are very welcome and thanks for taking the time to join DonationCoder.  Based on what you said about copying/moving photos into various destination folders, you might want to take a look at another one of my applications called File Punter.

A very helpful program for me.
But - as you can see from the attached documents - I have a problem with German umlauts. Is this the result of your program or my Windows 8.1 settings?

Hi, pauly365, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.   :D

Is this the result of your program or my Windows 8.1 settings?

Which input method are you using?  If it's the text file method, please ensure you're saving your text file in UTF-8 format.

Hi skwire, thank you for your help.

Saving the text file in "Wordpad" with the Unicode option solves the problem. I think that in my multi step process producing the file UTF-8 encoding was lost and the "Editor" gave me no choice to save it as Unicode.

Thanks again.
