I'm suggesting that the export feature should add the quotes when writing the csv export, not that the list should be edited.

Thanks, Ath.  The CSV export does add in quotes when necessary and my copy of Excel seems to read them just fine.

Not sure if this is what is wanted, but the Length of .mp3 files is given as a column in Windows Explorer with the format hh:mm:ss

Hi,
Thank you very much, skwire, it is now very nice, the .csv file opens directly in Excel, and I do not even have to convert it to get separate values in columns!

Hi, I recently discover this little program and I find very useful!

I would like -if possible-  to make a request:
MediaInfo has a lot of information about multimedia files, sadly Playtime only have a small subset of this info to include in the grid.
I agree what maybe this info it is not always useful to all users, but sometimes would be nice to have the Display Aspect Ratio or a colum only with the width (or height) of the video. I dont know... people has a lot of weird needs (I find this in DonationCoder in the section Coding Snacks !!!)

So if its not very complicaded I request the possibility of choose between all the info of MediaInfo provides to add as a Playtime column.

Thanks in advance,
and congrats for make so many programs free for the community!
Cheers!

I'm glad you like the application.

If I understood you correctly, your request is in the new version below:

Website | Download
v1.5.0 - 2017-01-15
+ Added separate Width, Height, and Aspect Ratio columns.  You may have to
choose "View > Justify columns" from the menu make the new columns appear.
      (Thanks, antekgla)
+ Added "Move to Top" and "Move to Bottom" functionality to toolbar and
      right-click menu.
+ Added a "Copy text" option to the Edit menu.

Wow, that was fast!
Great! thanks for the update...
I will download and try it.

Thanks again!

Edit: I just tried and the new columns are great! Thanks!
However I detect a weird behavior when I click the Width to sort for that. For example I have several videos from different resolutions 1280x720, 640x480, 512x384 etc... When I click the Widht column the 1280 value is treated like the lower of the list  :o
I mean if the sort is Hight to Low appears the last and if the sort is Low to High appears first... weird... maybe a bug in the grid?... but the Height Column sorts OK  :tellme:

Edit2: I think what I know because the Width Colums sorts it is wrong... the values are treated  like alphabethic so 1280 is prior to 512, right?

Yes, an oversight on my part.  Fixed here:

! New columns in v1.5.0 weren't sorting properly.  (Thanks, antekgla)

Hi! thanks again for this application I use it a lot! :-*

I'm here to suggest you a new feature... a filter edit box with the possibility of choice in what column apply the filter.... mainly would be to filter a substring of filename but would be nice I can choose the column to apply the filter so for example you could filter by Video Codec or Audio Codec or substring of Path... anyway any column.
When the filter is applied would be nice what the total time and size reflect only the files displayed but if this is too complicated leave it because I could simply Select All (Ctrl+A) to view this data.

Thanks in advance!
Pablo

I hope this is the right place for this, if not can someone move it please to the right place, anyway on with my problem.

Love the app it's just what i have been looking for however i have an issue with my own encoded MKV files using latest handbrake and that issue is it fails to show the bitrate for the files i have encoded myself.
I have ripped the R2 (UK) DVD to an ISO then mounted that image using DVDFab Virtual Drive then fired up HandBrake (HB) using defaut settings ecept these

then start te encode process and some time later come back to a completed mkv file then when i run it through PlayTime (PT) it just leaves that field blank, it does read other avi/mp4/mkv that i have downloaded elsewhere but not my own rips.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and why PT is not reading them right?
On a footnote when i run it through "Bitrate Viewer" it reads the files fine

Hi, Alloneword, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.

PlayTime uses the MediaInfo library to populate the list so, if MediaInfo doesn't return the data, it will be blank.  That said, I can try updating PlayTime to use the latest MediaInfo library to see if that fixes the issue.  If it doesn't fix the issue, you might try writing to the MediaInfo author.

v1.5.3 - 2017-09-02

Thanks for the quick reply skwire and the update to the app, however it has not solved my issue, so i will try and make contact with the MediaInfo author and see what he/she has to say about it.

It's a great app and will make a donation this week, keep up the good work.

Hi Skwire!
I hope I will stay looking at this post because has past a long time...
Would be possible to add a item to the "Copy Text" menu named: Full Filename what include Path+Filename

Thanks!
Ps: Any chance what you release the source code of this app so we don't have to bother you for minor changes like this?  :)

Hi Skwire!
Trying again to get your attention in this old thread

Would be nice to add:

 -  a item to the "Copy Text" menu named: Full Filename what include Path+Filename
 - A box to filter files in the list applied to Filename or better yet to any field we want.

Thanks!

Apologies for the lack of reply.

-  a item to the "Copy Text" menu named: Full Filename what include Path+Filename

Quick and easy to add.

- A box to filter files in the list applied to Filename or better yet to any field we want.

Not as quick, but certainly doable.

v1.5.3 - 2017-09-02
    * Updated to v0.7.98.0 of MediaInfo.dll.

I also had new .mkv files encoded with Handbrake or updated with MKVPROPEDIT, in which playtime v1.5.3 does not readout the bitrate.
This is because the mediainfo.dll which playtime uses, gets extracted everytime you start the program, so it always uses a version out of 2017.
I found a quick workaround, by copying the latest mediainfo_i386.dll from the program MediaInfo and enable read-only on the file so it does not get replaced.

Watch out, with this method, it only reads the bitrates correctly. It does not read the codec anymore. Steps to do
  • Install the latest version of MediaInfo, if you do not have it already.
  • Copy from the MediaInfo install folder the file MediaInfo_i386.dll.
  • Paste this file in your playtime/RES directory.
  • Remove the Mediainfo.dll which exists.
  • Rename the Mediainfo_i386.dll to Mediainfo.dll.
  • Richt click the file > Properties > General tab > Attributes > Enable "Read-Only"
  • That's it! That worked for me!
