Acronis TrueImage 10 available for free
« on: February 04, 2009, 11:26 AM »
From the folks over at Gizmo's:

Acronis True Image 10 for Free
Mon, 02/02/2009 - 08:51 — gizmo.richards

    * Hot find

Editors note: This item has been updated with more detailed instructions.

I just received this message on the site contact form:

"Hey Gizmo

I just now saw Acronis true image v10 for free, linked on slickdeals.  Here is the direct link:

http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe

Adam"

I checked out the item on slickdeals.net and it is genuine. It's an offer from a UK PC magazine but it appears that it is open to users worldwide.  I certainly had no problems getting a serial and downloading the product and I'm not in the UK.

Links & Info: http://www.techsuppo...mage-10-for-free.htm

Personally, I would have preferred version 9 - but you "don't look gift horses yada-yada-yada" as the saying goes. ;)

I keep getting Error 500 when I try to register.  :( May it be that the server is overloaded? Does it happen to anybody else?

Yeah, the server has been getting slammed by registrations since the link has been up.. lol.. keep trying.. you'll get the registration email soon or later..

Personally, I would have preferred version 9 - but you "don't look gift horses yada-yada-yada" as the saying goes.

Why do you prefer version 9 over 10? Is there no difference?

edit: up as in around the net

Why do you prefer version 9 over 10? Is there no difference?

I prefer that utility apps stay focused on core functions rather than trying to become Swiss Army knives.

TrueImage suffers from "feature creep". It has gotten more bloated (and expensive) with each new release. But I guess Acronis feels the need to keep adding things in order to justify selling upgrades.

(BTW: I actually liked version 8 better than version 9.  ;D)

Me too. 2nd day still waiting. I'm hoping it's just because they're backed up. :-\

I managed to obtain the serial.  :D After one day.  But, as 40Hz said, "don't look gift horses yada-yada-yada"!

I don't know what are the differences between 9 and 10, but I hope it won't happen as it happened with Nero, that became, from a nice burning application, into ... I don't know what it is these days.

40Hz, could you tell us what new features you dislike in TrueImage 10?

There is now no download link now on the Registered Products page - it just says:

"The installation package can only be obtained from a promo campaign partner."

Edit: If you can't find the file anywhere check out this thread http://www.hotukdeal...?t=331457&page=5

Looks like version 11 is $5 after rebate over at newegg...

http://forums.slickd...highlight=true+image

Hmmm... looks like buying it might also give you access to an upgrade to the newest version for free.

[edit 3]
Oh, looks like newegg sold out of version 11. I guess all they have now is version 2009.
Sorry...
