If you had the choice of having any question answered before you died what would it be?

How does our universe work?

I would like to have the understanding of the creation and current expansion of our universe.

This is truly hard question. Honestly: I do not believe in universal meaning of the life, rather that it depends of what you want it to be. I was thinking once about "what after death" but obviously: you will know that after few seconds. Whole deduction leaves two questions. If I had little more time before death, I would ask myself first: "was my life good" and then real question: "Who are you to give me an answer". But not knowing how it will come I have to choose:

Was it good?

Because that way you could never learn?

You could change not only your time but the time of every person you had some influence. It would not be so great. On the other side: IF anyone can change time then only math and physics would be constans. Neverending story about correcting everything. In such case: would you play ANY game? Would you ever consider any "risk"?

If it really was any question that could be answered, imho that would require an all-knowing being, and thus asking questions like "does god exist" would be pretty much irrelevant. My own question would then be simply WHY?, and would cover all the whys. This probably isn't fair, though, since it is kind of more than a single question.

My question would then probably be along the lines of "Why do we have to go through all this pain and suffering?", again keeping the "all-powerful being" theory in mind, and thus deducing that there must be some reason behind it all.

If we step down from the metaphysical/close-to-religious stuff and have to phrase some much more concrete questions, I don't really know. I guess I'll have to ask whether we're considering that there's an afterlife, and the question is something you can have answered on your death-bed and will then reflect on in the afterlife... or if it's basically any question answered now, knowledge which can then be used until this meat-vessel can no longer sustain me?

Universe will get colder and colder until any kind of live will extinct or someday it will start to shrink and will end with another Big Bang. Or extending will just stops and everything will be balanced.

The answer for this question is not clear because there are too many gaps in science. The biggest unknown is the dark matter (IIRC) and it's properties. I advise you to read A Brief History of Time. Maybe that book will answer some of your questions.

Dark Matter or Dark Energy are just guesses at this point. Some questions can only be asked based on the information which is known. Space is such a puzzle and actually it bothers me a little that I will never have the answers in my life time - not sure why this is something I very much want the answers to.

The book seems kinda of old and information gained in the last 10 years alone has advanced the understanding.

Assuming the rule is that you can't die until you get your questions answered:

What has become of all the people I met? would theoretically prolong your life until you get tired of all the answers and stop meeting people and if it gets too noisy, you could always use a noise cancelling instrument to cancel out some of the people. The knowledge also helps you die satisfied in knowing what you have done in this world before you leave this plane of existence.

During human existence, what will become the extent of technology?

Just because that's me, the ever curious one, I would have to know how far humans would advance in technology before *something* happened. Be that an Earth-covering EMP blast, the Earth exploding, etc. Mostly for kicks, just because I'm waiting for the Intel Core 900 (17.38 Rev 4) Octo Edition with Phase Cooling and Uber-Threading Technology. Can't die until I know of it
