Help us pick some new SMF mods to install on the forum
« on: August 28, 2008, 06:04 PM »
I'm just updating the nofollow link stuff as per the constructive criticisms on this thread: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=13577.0

And i think we might as well add some more fun mods to the forum software.  Here are the two SMF mod lists, let us know what you'd like to see installed:

The only one that I see could be interesting IMO, is the Google Maps one, considering that the Fraprr map was a bit messy.

It could also be interesting to add the Twitter and XBOX Gamertag ones, if enough people use those.

i agree Google Member Map is quite interesting and its equivalent: Location Mod.

additionally maybe these:
Image Zoom Tag - for those using higher res.
Redirect Moved Topics - so that i don't have to click twice. :)

# http://custom.simplemachi...g/mods/index.php?mod=1150 - profile visitors, show which people have viewed your profile
somehow I think I wouldnt like this one

here's another idea:
say you havent checked unread posts in a while & there's a few pages of them
a "select all" option would be nice (i.e. select all on current page)
then you could mark page as unread (or deselect a couple first) & refresh

Does that make sense (not late here but I tired ..)

There is already a feature that lets you do that:

I wrote some RSS mods today: https://www.donation....msg126766#msg126766

I thought they might be helpful if people wanted to put an rss feed on their page just showing their posts, or replies to their topics, etc.

I'd humbly suggest something I didn't see on the mod lists unfortunately... a good example is on the link below, where they have the row of buttons ending in the one for bigger text. The ease their design shows for enlarging text in particular I think might be the sort of touch that helps increase your audience.

I know it can be done in Windows, using several utilities, in the browser, and so on... So yes there really is no need to stick that sort of thing on a web page, except that some folks don't know how or don't want to bother etc... Just a small touch to make their visit hopefully more enjoyable.

A few minor things added:

new tag: username - links to users profile.

when you click the url button you are now prompted for url and title -- should make it easier for new people to post links properly (note you can leave title blank).

added bbc code buttons to profile signature.
