the dc member server is down tonight for a few hours while the server admin upgrades it -- hang on a bit and it will be back up soon :)

Having problems with the gpw, gpi, gpb, gpn, imdb searches.  All I get is 'plugins are searching' and no results are displayed.  Gpl and gpv work fine however??  Any ideas what could be the issue?

Thanks

But I can't understand why, but everytime I type "gp", the options dialog comes up :(
I had that same problem at first, but I fixed it by shutting down FARR, deleting the plugin folder, restarting & closing FARR and copying the plugin folder back.
I'm not sure if it was the copying of the plugin folder while FARR was not running or the renaming of the plugin folder (I had called it "GooglePlus_v1.1" before), but now it's working without showing the options dialog after every keystroke.

google now has a dictionary site. any chance of including it into the plugin? it'd be a wonderful complement.

would love to implement this functionality but unfortunately google has not created an api for their dictionary service yet.

I had been looking at the FARR plugin "GoogleSuggest", and someone suggested (no pun intended) that I try GooglePlus out.
So I installed it just now, and it runs fine and I think it's a great plugin.

However, I would like the option to be able to feed my search parameters through to Google Desktop and so search my local hard drive.
Is there some way I could do this?

GooglePlus is based on their web search api which is different from gds which the plugin does not support. I dont use gds myself but would recommend either of the Everything or Locate plugins which work extremely well if you dont need to search the contents of files. Phitsc also made a really cool Windows Search plugin which i use to search in outlook and emails in thunderbird.

@s.newave: Thanks for the explanation and the suggestions.
I should explain that I use GDS because it is the most efficient and effective desktop search tool that I have come across (including the short-lived AltaVista desktop product) and:
(a) it indexes all my desktop documents (a mandatory requirement);
(b) it indexes my Outlook email - when I am obliged to use Outlook (a mandatory requirement);
(c) it integrates its search with Gmail (a mandatory requirement);
(d) it integrates its index across all my disparate computer desktops (a mandatory requirement).

For these and other reasons it is leagues ahead of other search tools, including Windows Search and the constipated Microsoft Windows indexing that is necessitated by that.

Thus Everything and Phitsc are not really suitable candidates for my search tools.

I have found that this problem showed up with the lastest FARR version (v2.87.03). I tried many things to solve it but the only thing that saved me i going into the plugins source and have a look. Anyway quick fix is to go to FARRDIR\Plugins\GooglePlus\fscript.js and comment out/delete lines 94 and 95. I have had no sideeffects so far :)

I'm sure it's me (or my FARR config), but I can't get this to work at all.  If I type "gp", I get the list of all the Google search options (web, etc.), but if try a full search (like the example, "gpw watchmen"), I don't get anything.

I'd love any suggestions!

we need a new release of googleplus, this is happening to everyone.  it's just a minor fix though that others have made on their own.  skajfes says "Anyway quick fix is to go to FARRDIR\Plugins\GooglePlus\fscript.js and comment out/delete lines 94 and 95. "  which seems to work. but a new official release would be ideal!

I've tried that, but I'm still stuck at not being able run any searches at all.  Could someone explain step by step how they get this to work? (before this new problem popped up)

I type "gpw" followed by a space and then "watchmen", and FARR+GP try searching my computer, not Google.  If I just type "gp", I see the list of GP actions, but I can't seem to activate any of them.  I've tried "gp", tab, "watchmen", and "gp", click on the GPW line item, then type "watchmen".  No Google searches!

I'd REALLY appreciate any suggestions!

Hi,

Sorry i havent been more responsive in the forums lately. Anyway i just tried the latest version of FARR and had no issues with GP 1.1 on W7 64bit

Regarding the options popup issue. This is most likely happening when, for one reason or another, the GooglePlus.ini file is missing from the GooglePlus dir. Clicking "OK" on the popup should create a new GooglePlus.ini which should solve the issue unless there is some other issue going on. If you keep clicking "Cancel" however it will keep popping up the options after every keypress. Let me know if this does not work.

hypert: Not sure why GP isnt working for you. Only thing i can think of is that there might be some sort of conflict or issue with your aliases file. GP will definitely not search your computer and works by simply typing "gpw watchmen" to search the web, "gpv watchem" to search youtube for watchmen or even "imdb watchmen" to search imdb for watchmen.

I uninstalled ALL my plugins, including GP, and re-installed.  Works fine now!

I wonder if the problem happens when google plus is installed in a subdirectory of plugins that doesn't match it's expectations? like with a dif name or inside an additional subdirectory depth..

I used the default name, as "farr" as I can remember. :D

I think there may have been a conflict with another plugin, but I never used any of the others.  GP is the only one I need!

s.newave: this looks like a great plugin!
But I can't understand why, but everytime I type "gp", the options dialog comes up :(

This plugin may has conflict with FarrMilk plugin. I come across the same problem like you.

And I remove/setup each plugin for testing. Finally figure out that after typing gp the setting dialog of GooglePlus popout when
put FarrMilk and GooglePlus together.

Hope the author can fix this since I need both of these two plugins

After i've updated FARR now GooglePlus keeps giving me an error and Visual Studio shows me that the line
FARR.setState(1); (from the onSearchBegin function) is incorrect, it says "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment".

Did something change in FARR's scripting part or why is this error showing up ?
