BeyondCompare 3 Beta released

Scooter Software have released the first public beta of the long awaited BeyondCompare 3. Announcement here.

I have it installed but haven't really had a chance to play with it.

We have a site license for BC2 at work, I wish the upgrade was free or that my company decides to upgrade The syntax coloring for src code is a big feature.

The addition of secure ftp support is a HUGE addition for me, thought testing in previous versions would crash on me.  Not sure if it's stable yet.  When it is, it will be a great thing.

Looks like they've copied some of Araxis Merge's best features:

# Full in-pane editor with dynamic re-comparisons
# Adaptive gutter buttons for copying sections
# 3-way text merge

the lack of in pane editor was the greatest weakness of version 2, so it's definitely great news.
btw: version 3 will be released for linux, so this is big news for the linux crowd.

Strange conception of "soon" they have at Scooter Software . I wonder how it'll compare against the competition, especially WinMerge, which made great progress during the past months.

I'm not sure how it compares (! ) with other similar software and BeyondCompare in particular, but SwiftCompare is free today at GAOTD. It installed OK and can compare folder and/or files.
