Get-togehter: Scandinavia / Denmark
« on: March 20, 2008, 01:55 AM »
I was wondering if any DC members in the Nordic region are interesting in a little heads-up?

I can personally offer a 50m^2 apartment in Århus, Denmark - room for lots of people in sleeping bags, and I can cook etc. I could probably also facilitate something in "the general area of Copenhagen" (although it'd be a bit outside, and other people might be better hosts), which would be more interesting for people from, say, .se and .no.

Any interest? At the very least, Curt and I could have a beer :)

I am definatly interested but might be tricky for me to actually do for a number of reasons.
As I work at a school its sometimes tricky to get time of, more so as it is a school for handicapped kids and the student I am currently working with is rather depending on his assistants (thats me and two others). My girlfriends is also moving in with me the comming month (might not be in the way depending on when this get-together is) so will have to organize and do all the practical things around that.

But count me in. Somehow I should be able to get there.

Oh yeah, didn't think of that. I'll look at other possible solutions then, like UPS or something.

ThalSwe, where in Sweden do you live?

I currently live in Borås and if you are clueless to where that is you find it about 65 km's east - north/east of Gothenburg (something like that...you get the idea).

Not at all. So as long as the timing works for me its not too far to travel nor will it cost me that much money, which currently is one of the bigger issues. So little money and SO much to spend it on  :-* *drifts of daydreaming*

This is currently on the idea level, I believe, so difficult to say when. Perhaps this summer? Anyone got any bright ideas for when is the best time?

If visitors from other parts of the world (read: warmer places) ever should come back to our part of the world, their first visit better be in the late summer, say, early August. Otherwise I fear they will freeze their a** off, and never return. If we're lucky they should then have the chance to understand by experience the Danish law article wich says it is forbidden to be nude where it is not common to be nude, and allowed where it is common...

come on! Denmark is a wonderful country!

- goes to show that you live north from DK (read: an even colder place)!  :P

:D Actually I'm half Danish and have spent a lot of time all over .dk

But late July and August is a good idea "temperature-wise", although pretty much any time'll do for me. Maybe we should come up with some dates and see when's the best time?

*bump*
Sorry for leaving the topic idle for so long, but I've been pretty busy and stressed out :)

Anyway, I had a look at my calendar, and I have a vacation time in week 28 (7th july - 13th july) - that's probably the best time for me, before starting on education etc. I'd suggest throwing the thing in the weekend, and the place would be Århus. If you're interested, post here!

Hmm, this brings back found memories from my stay in Denmark some 22 years ago (already!) when I spent nine month in "Koebenhavn" (don't know to have the "o + /" character).  I was there again, in 2006, in Aarhus then Aalborg, on the year where heat was unbearable in Europe, even in Aalborg.  Only when we got to Loekken and the long sand beach there, then jumped into the sea, we got finally some coolness.

I won't be able to join this time of year, hopefully next time.  Too bad. Anyway, thanks for the proposal and for this small instant of nostalgia.

I wouldn't mind being in a box in an aircraft for a few hours. Have to be a pretty big box though ;D
