could wall colour help or hinder your work?
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:45 PM »
I'm moving and it's help with interior decoration I want all right, but -
from the point of view of creating a good work "environment"

who knows, maybe if I paint the walls bright yellow I'll never procrastinate again :-*

anyone got any tips or read any advice along these lines lately ?

PS the ceiling is timbered with medium colour timber (treated -but not shiny varnish)
At the moment wall colour is a cool light blue -direction of turquoise- not bad but a bit bathroomy I think ...

You wish!  ;D

Better check out Neil Fiore's book, as recommended by many, including our beloved Steve Pavlina: http://www.stevepavl...evelopment-books.htm (some great books on that list!)

No idea regarding wall colors, I just remember reading painting your rooms red DOES reduce heating costs slightly because it 'feels' warmer than white to your brain and thus to your body.

You might find it helpful to know that yellow is the favourite colour of the insane  :o

Might be worth a look here here

Good luck in your new digs, hope you'll be happy and comfortable there!

This site may help...
http://www.color-whe...m/color-meaning.html

Also, you have to think about what else happens in the room - Is it  only an office? or will it function as living room, bedroom etc.

If you are making an office where you wanna get a lot of work done, you may want something like a neutral color, or a bright scheme that will motivate you but not overwhelm you. A taupe, pale blue, or seafoam green would be calming and unobtrusive. A darker red, however, like deep cherry-maroon, could make you feel empowered.  :)

Anyways, hope that helps!

In the late 80's Anthony Schembri was the Police Commissioner in the City of Rye NY.  I had a store there and knew him.  He was the inspiration for the TV show  The Commish .

oh dear ;D and the creative too, hopefully
the site Della links to says
Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy

quite bright,
"Under the roof" as they say here, wall sloping up to ceiling, with a big Velux window
maybe as you say "pale blue, or seafoam green would be calming and unobtrusive"

but I dont think I'll go for the pink ljbirns, interesting read though :D

thanks all for the tips, reading and wishes :)

Call me adventurous but my room is always painted a matte white! If it's good enough for most ICUs, it's good enough for me!  :P
