i remember when i was 5, i played this game on DOS wher eu had a big square area where u had creatures flyin around (i am thinkin level 1 had a caterpillar or somethin) and u had to make the area as small as possible, durin that u can also cut out the sections of the area wit an enemy trapped and eliminated wit it, if u make it small enough, all the enemies that remain will explode...anyone know wat i mean?       :tellme:

i dont know the name of the game you played but it's clearly based on the arcade game Qix:

Could it be one of these?

Careful when checking up SeXoniX, that game features mature themes.

Jezzbell was a lot better on the PC, not some poor browser-embedded remake.

I think I remember that game you're talking about papoj1. I played it on my grandma's computer or on the NES or something when I was young. But I can't remember the name either. I'll check out those variants and see if I find it.

By the way, that link to the variants is NSFW!

Looks like Qix was ported to all kinds of places. DOS, NES, Gameboy, Amiga, etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qix

The one I was thinking of was called Cacoma Knight in Bizyland for SNES

Yup, I should have checked all titles, since I know first hand of the relationship of Qix + "eye candy". Actually, there are more games of that type than normal ones like Qix, which is pretty normal, considering the game mechanics. It's not a bad thing really, Kaneko made quite some good games of that particular variant, and at least helped the genre to survive.

I wonder if some indie developer would be up to the task of resurrecting the genre for the new generation of gamers, much like Nervous Brickdown did with Breakout-like games recently. Hmmm, a Qix game in the DS...

By the way, DC member TPReal wrote a really cool multiplayer qix-like game for the DC bcb contest:

Talk about weird coincidence... just read a review of a new game in that family: http://www.gamersinf...ndex.php?art/id:2107 I dont think i would even had understood it had i not seen this thread recently.

PS: this site manages to review a totally eclectic mix of mainstream and independent games
