This week Chris (veign) came out to visit and talk about possible work (unrelated to DC). I felt we had an obligation to post a picture.

We agreed that there really needs to be a large DC gathering at some point in the future.

nice photo, but i see you've deliberatly restricted the size of it - that's a shame as i wanted to cut both of your faces out and stamp them onto some card to make a couple of DC member masks (yes, i'm creating my very own DC community so i can have my own DC gatherings!)

Are beards obligatory - I feel left out.

Maybe you could include one in the member pack in future.

i just grew mine to impress chris - i plan on shaving it off today now that he is gone

ps. i heard allen lost an arm wrestling match with his wife and he had to shave off his beard -- just a rumour though.

You should grow it till spring, at least. It will keep you warm all winter and you'll save money on razors.

Not to worry, Carol. Neither tomos nor I have beards (at least, neither of us did in July 2007!)!

PS No one ever made an effort to guess who is who in that picture...

But now i'm curious! I'd say you're the "orange dude"

My rationale was that the man in the blue t-shirt looks more irish, and the man with the orange t-shirt looks more like my professors

Hmmm... the consensus seems to be that I am in the orange tee and tomos is in the blue tee with hat and sunglasses. Right, there it is then (except for the annoying detail that Tom is on the left of the picture and I am on the right...)

Actually, to be fair, i'm not exactly sure. I thought they should be somewhat similar to english people, and the fact that you have a larger body-build than Tom, made me think you were the one drinking more beer (and everyone knows english people love beer

).

PS: i'm fully aware that my rationalization makes no sense, but oh well...
PS2: next time, please include a voice sample of the people on the photo saying the same phrase, maybe we'll get there by the accent

(actually, given the fact that Tom has been living in germany for a few years, probably that wouldn't help much either

Anyway, back on topic - love the picture, mouser. Thanks for posting it. I had a beard a bit further along than yours circa 1999/2000 and at the three week point was going out of my mind because of the itchiness. Endured that for about 2 days and shaved it off. My face has been hair free ever since. Nice to see what Veign looks like, too!

I only grow my out of a laziness to shave. I try to acheive a balance between the least amount of shave-able area and the smallest area of facial hair that I can deal with.

It was a great visit with Mouser and I'm looking forward to a future visit.

ps. How about that bookcase?
