The Portable Freeware Collection lists 20 eMail Clients with short description and users comments.

My first choice would be InScribe, but also Koma-Mail is a good program.

I always go to www.portableapps.com to find "x-on-a-stick". It's all open source s/w, tweaked to run from a USB drive.

I use nPop some time ago, it's fantastic for easy emailing.. otherwise I use Thunderbird or Gmail.

While www.portableapps.com is OK, it updates slowly. Try http://www.winpenpack.com/
Much more active, and don't let the italian put you off. Just switch to english, upper right. Offers a number of e-mail clients for you to try. Also menu system is much better than portableapps.

if you need a POP email client, and a ton more, try the one included with Floppy Office. (it's nPOPuk)

I'm pretty sure they were false positive but I downloaded the portable apps "suite" and PCTools SpyWare Doctor went absolutely mad when I unpacked the ZIP with malware reports !

My biggest gripe with the suite is that it is too big for my USB Flash Drive so the install fails leaving those apps that were installed unusable because the final part of the installation sets up the program menu and start files.

If you really want to go portable, don't use an email client at all. Use a webmail client. Most ISPs today have one or more installed. And you can always use your a Gmail or Yahoo mail client to get to your "regular" email.

It's worth keeping an eye on the author's Web site, as MemPad is in constant development. Many convenient new features have been added recently.

Mail2Web is another useful option for picking up your POP3 mail over the Web; it's been briefly mentioned in another DC thread
