Updated.  Note you can use any mp3 files you want, just copy them into the appropriate Sounds subdirectory and then enable/disable them from the options.

Program is completed and working, but i need help with some sound files(!)

What i need is someone to pick a dozen or so different kind of "chime" like mp3 files, from a site like: http://www.freesound.org/
I think they should be from 1-3 seconds long or so.

And then I need some nice longer clear recordings of people speaking some lucid dreaming "instructions".. these are the mp3 files that the user will be hearing as they are in a half-awake state, so they should say things like "Remember that you are dreaming and you can take control of your dream", etc.

See link in first post on lucid dreaming.

Ok this is a fun/silly little idea i had -- a simple little utility to play a customizable chime and voice file in the middle of the night to try to nudge you into Lucid Dreaming.

WEB PAGE: https://www.donation...amInducer/index.html

A lucid dream is one in which you realize you are dreaming and can take control of your actions and other details of the dream. More on lucid dreaming: https://en.wikipedia...org/wiki/Lucid_dream

You need to have a computer near your bed when you use this program.  The basic idea is that you would enable it when you head to sleep, and some hours later it will play some chimes to semi-wake you  and then a voice recording to remind you to try to be aware that you are dreaming.

There are options to let you easily choose which chimes and voice messages to (randomly) play at what volume. I include a few but really you should make your own. You can choose how long after you head to sleep the first episode should occur, and then the number and delay between subsequent episodes.

There is nothing controversial about the fact that people can have lucid dreams -- but inducing them seems to be a hit and miss affair and more of an art than a science, with different people finding different tricks that work for them.

While there may be some high-tech ways to induce lucid dreaming by detecting when the brain goes into certain stages of sleep and waking the person at that time, this tool uses a low-tech, less-reliable technique.  If you are serious about trying to use this tool you will have to experiment with the time delays, volumes, and sound files to find those that work most often for you (the program displays a log of which sounds were played and when to help you identify what worked).

I'd love to hear if this works for anyone.

Download:

NOTE:
I need some better people to make good "instructional" voice messages! Please make some and share them!

first half is non-technical introduction, then the the next guy talks about disassembling the ecu code and what he found.  good stuff.  was a shame the talk had to end so quickly -- hopefully the speakers will be giving additional talks in the near future.
somewhere around 58 minutes is a bit of a smoking gun chart.

« Last post by mouser on December 31, 2015, 02:04 PM »
Ok so you're not really looking for a traditional stay-on-top feature, as what you are talking about is a pop-up menu, never meant to stay on screen..

What you seem to be asking for is something that would be mostly functionally equivelant, and that HAS been asked for in the past, a kind of tiny window with recent (quick paste) items that you can (double) click to paste into last active window.

I note that the main window will do exactly what you want (and has a stay-on-top option in view menu), it's just that it's a bit big to keep on screen at all times, correct?

Updated (update check, if enabled, should alert you).

The last version I uploaded was in debug mode, so it would have run slower and created a debugout.txt file (sorry!); you can delete the debugout.txt file.

So I saved the "Note_For_PortableUse.txt" as "ConfigDir.ini" and though I run portable.

that was the mistake -- i can see why you did that -- perhaps because my Note_For_PortableUse.txt LOOKS like its in the ConfigDir.ini format..

Might be nice to have a "start screensaver" item on there too.
And if you want to get fancy, a way for users to add their own items :)

and I have a empty file "ConfigDir.ini"
but the shots are still stored to my AppData folder.?!?!

your ConfigDir.ini is empty? that could be the problem -- that does not make the app portable.
why is it empty? by default the portable zip file should contain a ConfigDir_Default.ini which says the app is portable.

no, you don't want those files, those are just for setting the directory to be used for the real settings file.
you want AutomaticScreenshotter.ini

if you're not seeing that file, perhaps i've done something wrong and am not saving that in the portable location?

Question: I see no "Include mouse cursor" option? But it is there, right? I need this to keep track which button was clicked (Mouse was over "Yes" or "No" button).
I can add capture cursor option -- but note that it's not going to be capturing often enough to accurately capture whenever you get a click.
I could add a lower level mouse hook in the future and an option to capture on EVERY mouse click..

Or maybe better: a hotkey to toggle "Capture every X seconds" (CEXS) on and off on the fly.
yeah, this is similar to the request for tray menu to quickly change frequency of capturing.
