Living Room / Looking for programming language
« on: May 03, 2017, 04:45 PM »

My criterion to choose a programming language to dwell on is to be well documented and have easy ways to implement things (are they called libraries/interfaces??)

I don't want to have to write tons of code to do a simple thing and reinvent the wheel, I would rather download an extension or something and do it faster/easier.

Which programming language is the best in such terms?

Living Room / Disaster plan
« on: March 15, 2017, 05:04 PM »

Which would be the best software/service in case something really bad happens, such as the hard disk crashes or my laptop is stolen?

I want to have my important (or all if possible) files in a secure cloud.

1) I also need the backup to occur automatically whenever there is a change in my files
2) I want to specify which folders/files to backup
3) I want to keep versions of the files

Any suggestion? Which would be the most reliable?

Living Room / Prevent screen lock
« on: February 11, 2017, 06:27 AM »

I am using a remote computer with very limited abilities due to strict administration and I want to prevent it from locking its screen.

Is there a way to do that?

I was thinking to open Internet Explorer and visit a website that will somehow do something periodically to prevent standby?

Or is there any other solution?

I need a portable application (since my laptop admin has disabled installing of software) that will record webex sessions.

Living Room / How to know which vehicle I am driving?
« on: November 19, 2016, 11:06 AM »

I manage a fleet and drivers have pda's to communicate with me. The problem is that they often get to different vehicles than they should to and they never notify me, so that I cannot track them with my tracking software.

Is there a way to get notified when a driver with a pda that has logged in with specific account to automatically notify me what vehicle they are into?

Is there an app that  I can use?

I was thinking to somehow pair the pda with the car, how can that be done?

Living Room / Is there a reliable printer?
« on: October 09, 2016, 07:13 PM »

All the printers I have owned, around 10, all failed at some point prematurely. I don't do harsh treatment, but they all had problems, either with the printing quality or the paper handling, or the communication, etc etc.

Is there a reliable printer that will be robust? I need it to be wireless and duplex and color ofcourse.

Most importantly, it must not break! even if it is not used regularly, or for whatever reason.

Living Room / problem with skype
« on: June 10, 2016, 01:56 PM »

I have a problem with skype. A particular person I talk with suddenly hears me very low. I checked their speakers and they work brilliantly! He can hear any youtube video without any problem. Yet when we connect via skype, he can barely hear me, even if he has his speakers at maximum.

Any idea?

PS: Microsoft destroys anything they touch, and skype was a marvelous app, until MS got their hands on them.
