General Software Discussion / Re: alternative to filehamster?

I have not used it, but AFAIK Docshield is similar and free for non-comercial use:

For those interested in Softmaker office 2008, there is a killer Ashampoo deal (same as Softmaker):

well, I then agree that Infix is a nice intuitive one

I am surprised that noone has mentionned OpenOffice which has a PDF import plugin:

Indeed it is not a NATIVE PDF editor, but it does work and has PDF export, and is FREE.

General Software Discussion / Re: Maxto-very interesting...

I did try Maxto a while back. It does require NET framework I think I recall and for sure is much more resource hungry than Gridmove.

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: GridMove: Grids Here
« on: March 08, 2009, 03:00 PM »
I would like to use Timcrew's grid on my single monitor, but having the right hand screen on my single monitor (I get the left side).
Is that possible, or is there an equivalent grid? Thanks

I have two 24" widescreen monitors.  I like to work with large full-height windows directly in front of my eyes, with smaller windows off to the sides.  This calls for a symmetrical grid, where the right and left monitor grids are mirrors of each other.

I never split my main windows horizontally, only vertically.  But my side windows (maybe call them "portlets") might be half height.

I sometimes split my screens 50/50 left-to-right, and other times 65/35.

With all of those constraints, I came up with a grid layout that provides what I want with 16 zones.  I haven't decided if I want to add zones for minimize and maximize.  The current implementation doesn't have them.

The grid works a lot like the dual-screen grid that is currently included with the base installation, except that it mirror-images the left and right monitors, and allows for a 50/50 split in addition to the 35/65 split.  (Maybe the dual-screen layout is a 30/70 split.  I can't tell exactly.)

The attached grid allows for layouts like

50/50 split full height

|--------|--------|  |--------|--------|
|        |        |  |        |        |
|        |        |  |        |        |
|        |        |  |        |        |
|--------|--------|  |--------|--------|

65/35 split full height

|-----|-----------|  |-----------|-----|
|     |           |  |           |     |
|     |           |  |           |     |
|     |           |  |           |     |
|-----|-----------|  |-----------|-----|

50/50 split with portlets

|--------|--------|  |--------|--------|
|        |        |  |        |        |
|--------|        |  |        |--------|
|        |        |  |        |        |
|--------|--------|  |--------|--------|

65/35 split with portlets

|-----|-----------|  |-----------|-----|
|     |           |  |           |     |
|-----|           |  |           |-----|
|     |           |  |           |     |
|-----|-----------|  |-----------|-----|

Or any combination of those.  Of course, there's nothing keeping you from using 50/50 on one monitor and 65/35 on the other, or full height portlets on one and half-height portlets on the other.

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / request: midbutton time
« on: March 08, 2009, 02:46 PM »
Hi,
thanks for a great app! I use it along gmote to intuitively place my windows (gmote for minimizing, maximizing, close, etc..)

My preferred way of placing windows is with the mid button, which I also heavily use to open new links in Firefox.
It would be great if one could increase the midbutton trigger time so as to avoid using Gridmove unadvertedly
(if one is quick it does not interfere, by it would be great to give some extra leeway)

Thanks

Thanks, you are right... but the spanish link is dead ...
BUT I just run into a very recent forum post, whereas a user is about to complete a spanish translation, so GREAT NEWS!!

 :)

12
Hi again, I have indeed one more request:
Is there a spanish version of ToDo list?  :)

EssentialPIM does actually have it, but it just has too many unwanted features.

13
Thanks a lot for the feedback :-)
ToDoList is indeed great, and free!
EPIM and AAO are nice too, but I figured I don't need the extra features, plus they're not free.

14
Hi,
I am looking for a hierarchical ToDo list software that allows it to be shared by multiple users (network).
So far, I have found that Agenda At Once and Essential PIM Pro Network support this feature set.
Any other suggestions and/or advice? Thanks a lot. :-)

15
Thanks a lot, it does seem to do what I want and more! I'll try it right away
:-)

General Software Discussion / Browser with audio device selection?
« on: January 05, 2008, 10:56 AM »
Hi all,
I would like to play musicovery thru a separate soundcard (thus leaving windows-system sound on the other card).
Alas it seems that no browsers allow to select soundcard, they use windows default ...
Does anyone have a solution to my dilemma?
Thanks

I just run into this freeware, along the lines of the great Gridmove, but that does work with a virtual numpad and hotkeys (which I like to bind to StrokeIt gestures):

Hope you enjoy it :-)

General Software Discussion / Re: Mouse software
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:40 PM »
Hi,
thanks for all the suggestions ;-)

I do like Gridmove but sometimes I want to do a quick vertical mosaic arrangement of my windows, and I wished I could do it with a StrokeIt gesture; alas I don´t know of any windows hotkey to do that that I could bind to a gesture ... Any suggestions?

I would also use TXmouse more if I could disable its mousewheel paste function. Can that be done?

Thanks

General Software Discussion / Mouse software
« on: August 19, 2007, 05:44 PM »
Hi all,
I like to do as much as possible with my mouse, and would like to hear your suggestions.

I currently use:
1- StrokeIt (gestures)
2- Volumouse
3- MouseZoom extension to control fontsize in Firefox
4- Autohotkey script to copy/paste with RightButton (hold/dblclick)
(I prefer this to TXmouse or Dragking)
5- LaunchonFly last free version
(actually I could without by mapping a launch menu hotkey to a mouse button)

Any suggestions? thanks

Hi,
I discovered MusicIP and love using it to browse through my library.
I also recently discovered AIMP, a lite weight russian audioplayer that works great; they just released v2 beta today I think (I have been using v1.77.9)
I send my MusicIP playlists to it now :-)
Anyway since nobody has mentionned it, do check it out!

Not the same, but related, I use Process Tamer to detect processes gone awry and terminate them.

Hi, very interesting thread :-)
I have been wanting to move my GoogleEarth's cache out of the C: drive and this seems a way to do it (folder junction)!
Thanks
