Living Room / Google's new Inbox powered by Gmail
« on: October 24, 2014, 12:40 PM »
Has anyone heard of or have access to this?

I personally always try to get in on new 'Google Action', and even got in on their Google Glass when it was by invitation only, but couldn't afford the steep $1500 price tag. Anyway, if you're in, and have any extra invites, I would love to have one.

Living Room / Building a Desktop
« on: March 06, 2013, 12:41 PM »
I haven't had the pleasure of building a desktop in many years, and this year I am going to do it for myself. Having been out of the game for such a long time, there are several things I don't feel 100% comfortable about proceeding with before getting some sound advice. I'm going to list my components here and I would like help knowing if the build will work with the PSU I am looking at buying, and will it all fit in the box?

http://goo.gl/RALrx - Processor
http://goo.gl/ekYSc - MotherBoard
http://goo.gl/wmJPQ - Memory
http://goo.gl/bC3nF - PSU
http://goo.gl/KyRlB - GPU
http://goo.gl/kj3My - 'Bling' Cooling Fans
http://goo.gl/YUPuY - Wireless IEEE 802.11ac
http://goo.gl/y8F1 - DVD Burner
http://goo.gl/Uumol - The Computer Chasis

I was trying to stay cheap, and this looks decent to me. I just don't know if the components are too much for my 550W PSU, or if the whole thing will fit in the chasis. Thank you!

Living Room / Keyboard keys 'stuck' (software???)
« on: May 12, 2012, 06:52 PM »
Dell Studio 1735 laptop - Running Windows 7

Recently I have had problems playing games where my keys get 'stuck' but not physically. After releasing the Move Forward button for example, there is roughly a 2 second delay before my characters actually stop moving. I have checked online on several websites and most of the topics I find that are related, all point to sticky keys, which I have verified are turned off.

This has occurred over several different games, both full screen and windowed mode, using different keys, (NumPad, Arrows, WASD) and the problem persists. The laptop has been turned off and rebooted with no change. Any ideas?

Coding Snacks / Random Word Generator
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:54 AM »
Dear Coders,

I'm looking for a plugin that's compatible with WordPress that creates 3 sets of 3 words randomly, weekly on Friday's for example. After a lot of internet search, I have been unable to come up with anything. The idea is to have these words at the top of a webpage where users can go to the page and instantly see the new list of words. Nothing fancy, just 3 lists of 3 words each.

Example:

collar
follow
subjective

voice
notifying
spoil

real
material
right

Maybe having a setting where we can change the time or date of the next change would be nice as an extra, but we're just looking for something simple.

If you have any questions or comments, please PM or reply here.

Thanks in advance!

Living Room / Excel If Then Statements
« on: March 21, 2009, 11:10 AM »
I've searched a few sites for help on this matter, with no luck. So I figured I'd come ask you smart folks if you know what I'm doing wrong.

IF Cell D2 has the value "Fire" THEN Cell F2 receives "NW" AND Cell G2 receives "W", ELSE Put nothing in the box, shown in my code below

                    =if((D2="Fire"),F2="NW"&G2="W","")

However, I always get "False" Returned to the cell I put this code into.

There has to be something that I'm either missing or just doing wrong. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Living Room / XP Password work around?
« on: March 06, 2009, 07:47 PM »
My sister-in-law has extremely long passwords, which is a good thing, however after a recent password change to log in to XP, she forgot her password and now wants to know if there is any known method, besides formatting, to either recover her password or get past it and enter a new password? I've scratched my head about this for a while, but am unable to come up with anything. Any ideas? :-\

Living Room / Flash Game: Sling Jumper 2
« on: July 14, 2008, 02:50 PM »
Did a pretty good job on this one.
A bit better then it's predecessor, added a 'roof' and cleaned it up a bit.

I realized I put this in the wrong place, so here it is again. Sorry about that.

In my job, I have to do a lot of user password resets for multiple clients, on multiple servers. I was wondering if there was a tool or an application that can be made, or already has been made, to enter in the information and have it do it over multiple servers?

Example:

YOUR ID: johndoe
CLIENT ID: janedoe
Machine(s): server1, server2, server3, server4
YOUR PASS: password
NEW PASS: password

To do this manually, you'd have to enter something like this:

>ssh server1
(password prompt)
>sudo /usr/bin/passwd (userID)
(password prompt)
>exit

>ssh server2
(password prompt)
>sudo /usr/bin/passwd (userID)
(password prompt)
>exit

And so on. So if there is anyway to code this to work on Linux/Unix machines I'd really appreciate the help, and so would my co-workers.

Any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Miz

Living Room / Learn How to create No-CD Cracks.
« on: December 21, 2006, 02:15 PM »
Does anyone know how to create your own No-CD/DVD cracks? Please share your knowledge. I am looking particularly for Neverwinter Nights 2 v1.03. I have searched the web with no luck. If anyone knows how or can lead me in the right direction, I am sure there are several who would like to learn how to do this.

Mouser's Zone / IDEA - Startbar Organizer
« on: December 13, 2006, 09:24 AM »
I work with some people who like organization, myself included. There are several applications that we have to run each day and we get used to where they sit on the Startbar. Is there a way to create a program that would allow you to hold down a mouse button, just like moving a file and re-arranging your Startbar applications?

The reason I ask: As you all know, applications freeze up or need to restart. This would be nice to have if that happened so you could just put it right back where you wanted it on your Startbar.

Let me know.

Developer's Corner / Let's Make us some Games!
« on: October 04, 2006, 01:43 PM »
Let's start collecting some ideas from all you gamers out there who want to see your ideas come to life! We might be able to collectively come up with some pretty unique ideas that could shape the gaming industry. I like the idea that there are a lot of people on this site from many different countries. We should come together with our programming abilities and ideas to see what we can come up with.

We may need to start small, stretch our wings, see what our limits are, as well as our potential. Perhaps eventually we could create the DonationCoder Industries. DCI or something, where anyone can contribute to the cause. Naturally this will take some work, and some advertising.

If you have an interest in this, or know someone who might, please invite them to the site so we can make some some of our dreams, a reality.

Living Room / Where's the collective Game Idea Board???
« on: October 04, 2006, 01:25 PM »
Just a thought: What about a board, or at least this topic, where people come together to collectively share ideas that can be worked on together? Or did I just miss it already?

Living Room / Windows Blinds... why the extras?
« on: October 04, 2006, 12:31 PM »
Anyone use Windows Blinds to change the StartBar and it screwed up other settings on your PC? Anyone know how to reverse the changes? I even removed the software but to no avail.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Screen Edge
« on: October 04, 2006, 12:25 PM »
What About making a border around your monitor so you can't take windows off the screen. Or having it so it will snap to the screen edge like the the gtalk chat windows. Or enabling it by holding a hot key while you move a window.

I don't know anything about coding, programming or if this is even possible, but can you make a simple program that lets you draw and choose the letter you would like to represent?
