I need to capture the whole active window, including the part that's not visible.  I looked at the hotkey preferences, and thought that "active window" would do it, but it cut off the non-visible part.  Thanks in advance.  I love screenshot captor.

When I copy something in two colors from an email message, it gets pasted as plain text if I copied it from Thunderbird, and it gets pasted as formatted text if I copied it from my browser gmail.  What settings or procedure can I use to get formatted text when I'm copying from Thunderbird?  Thank you.

This is the window I'm talking about:

Mouser's Zone / spelling correction
« on: May 22, 2015, 09:12 AM »
Hi, I thought you might want to know that I find "miscelaneous" in the settings screens of some of your software, but this word actually takes two L's.

Mouser's Zone / do you have some software to do this?
« on: May 22, 2015, 08:30 AM »
I use gmail + thunderbird.  Suppose I have selected some messages, either with a filter or manually, and given them a label.  Now they are in a thunderbird folder.  I would like to automatically save in a file all the messages with that label (working in the browser) or all the messages in that folder (working in thunderbird).

As a longtime fan of Screenshot Captor, I checked the Donation Coder list of software and found your clipboard utility, and I think that will be an improvement over my current clipboard utility, Arsclip.  Arsclip is good but I have never figured out how to merge clips -- or maybe it doesn't have that feature.  I watched the CHS video tutorial and learned how to do that with CHS.  So I think I can live with this approach, but I wanted to check if there's another approach that would be more automated.

If not -- I think there would be a lot of demand for such a piece of software.

Thank you.

I like to take my screenshots with border half the time and without half the time.  I'd like to be able to set a different keyboard shortcut for each type.

I hope this is doable.  Thanks!

Best Weather Monitor Tool / weather watcher
« on: May 26, 2014, 07:41 AM »
Thank you for the weather utilities reviews.  I chose Weather Watcher, because I was looking for something lightweight.

I'm writing to let you know that the link in the review takes one to the version that is free only as a 30-day trial.  But your review says it's free.

It is available elsewhere for free, so I think you should either give a different link, or remove the link and let people google it for themselves.

Screenshot Captor / Screenshot Captor feedback
« on: August 25, 2013, 08:12 AM »
1. There is a nice sticky post explaining that feedback should be posted to the bug tracker, but I couldn't find a link to the bug tracker (hence this post being put in the wrong place -- apologies!).

2. My first six months were up today for Screenshot Captor.  The message that popped up today when I restarted my computer talked about going to the link "above."  It should say "below."

3. The page I landed at did not seem to have a login on it.  That should be easy to implement and it sure would make the process more user friendly.

Thank you for Screenshot Captor.  I use it almost every day!  (I'm not very good at it yet though.  Someday I will try to get a bit better at it but not this week -- I'm under a deadline.)

Screenshot Captor / beta feedback: no cursor

I specified show cursor, but I'm not seeing the cursor.

I didn't actually test this feature in the stable release.

Screenshot Captor / how get better resolution?
« on: February 25, 2013, 08:53 AM »
I want to take a screenshot of a portion of http://www.apachefri...mpp-windows.html#641.  My ultimate goal is to include it in a wordpress page, and there the image should be 350 px wide.  Here are the choices I have thought of:

1. zoom out in the browser until I can fit the body into a 350 px wide Captor fixed frame; upload it to WordPress and insert it in full size.

2. leave the browser at 100% and make the capture at a lot more pixels.  Now I can resize the image with Captor, an editor such as irfanview or photoshop, or within the wordpress software.

What would give me good results (clear type, reasonable load time) but also give me a good workflow?

I have been saving my captures as png.

I know I've posted several questions today (sorry!), but this one is higher priority than the others.  Thanks.

Screenshot Captor / feature request: zoom buttons (+, -) - not urgent
« on: February 25, 2013, 07:59 AM »
In general, the more you can make using the software feel like other software people tend to use often, such as MS Word, foxit, firefox, and the simpler screenshot capture programs, the easier it will be for new users to start to get the hang of the Captor.  As they get comfortable, they will want to delve deeper to learn more sophisticated options.  Example: zoom.  In Word, Excel and foxit, there is a simple plus and minus at the bottom right for getting bigger and smaller.  In Captor, I need a + and a -.  They don't have to be at the bottom right.  Thank you.

Screenshot Captor / help with automatic file naming
« on: February 25, 2013, 07:30 AM »
I would like to change the folder where images get saved automatically, each time I start a new project.  And I would like shorter file names.  I do like not having to think about the file name each time I make a screenshot, though.  I would not mind thinking for the first filename in the sequence, if that would help.

For uploading the images to wordpress, it would be easiest if the filenames in the group were numbered in sequence.  It's okay if some numbers get skipped (due to me removing some images that didn't come out well).

Is it possible to name the screenshots based on the name of the folder I specified the files should be saved to?

Example.  A tutorial about installing WordPress.  I will name the folder wp-tut, and it would be lovely if the files were called wp-tut1, wp-tut2, etc.  However, wp-tut001 and wp-tut002 would be okay too.  Note that occasionally I will have double digits, but never triple.

Thanks!

Screenshot Captor / fancy border question, not urgent

General Software Discussion / forum password suggestion
« on: February 24, 2013, 07:22 AM »
The password has to have eight characters.  If I forget that, and type in my current favorite seven-digit password, it would be nice to get a message reminding me what the password rules for this forum are.

Also, new subscribers should be shown a suggestion to set a magic question.  I didn't find out about that feature until I was at the point of resetting my password.

Finally, please set "hide email address" as the default.

Thanks.

Screenshot Captor / having trouble with undo
« on: February 24, 2013, 07:16 AM »
Running Captor 3.08.01.

I did crop and then tried to add an arrow.  It didn't come out right, so I did ctl z (undo).  The thing that got undone was the crop.  How do I undo the arrow?

Alternatively, how do I delete the arrow object?

Or, how do I discard all my changes?  (I don't mind re-cropping if I have to.)

I tried selecting the original file from the panel of thumbnails of screenshot files, over on the left, but that just opens the file with irfanview.

By the way, about the crop tool: First I selected the part of the image I wanted to keep, then hit the crop icon.  The crop occurred, but I got an error message telling me to select a region before cropping.  What bothers me most about that is the "bing" noise.  (For now, I muted my sound.)

Thank you!

Screenshot Captor / can't set hotkey to ctl e
« on: February 20, 2013, 10:10 AM »
I used to use jet screenshot, but switched to screenshot captor because I can easily make it put a thin black border around all my screen captures (yay!).  In jet screenshot I had specified ctl e as the hotkey to capture a region, but in screenshot captor I can't.  When I try to type in ctl e next to Capture selected region, in the preferences, a dialogue box pops up called "Save copy of image as."

I would prefer to use ctl e because my fingers are already trained to do that.

Thank you.
