each time I want to link an image here in a post

this code appears. Normally there must be something like

[img]

why isn't it so?

it's to encourage the use of our inline image attachment feature, which is more well behaved than linking to external images.

so basically you should use the "attachment" feature at the bottom of the new post form to attach your images, and then use that [attach] code to indicate where the images should appear in your post.

at least you should let the user choos, which option he wants to use. sometimes the IMG function is much more appropriate

The problem with linked images is if the link dies, so does the image.

What if the image you are linking to is gone in a month or 2 or 6? The post you linked the image in will be showing a broken image.

If you attach the image however, it will be there for the life of the forum.

ps. the [img]url location of image[/img] tags still actually work, they are just not shown on the toolbar to discourage the use of this, for the reasons app says.
