[IDEA] Simply Desktop Calendar & To-Do List
« on: September 17, 2005, 07:53 AM »
There are a lot of calendar proggies out there, but I've been looking for something very simple:

- A simple month calendar to put on my desktop: just the numbers and the month. I'd like it to be transparent, but someone might like it to be bordered, etc;
- I'd like to select a date, and put a time and thing to do for that day. Maybe putting a special color border around it so I know there's something important (birthday, reunion, etc), and on hover a tooltip;
- Under the calendar, a list of a few of the next tasks (might I decide whether 2 or 5 or whatever?);

Not anything too complicated, just something very handy!

If anyone knows of a prog like this let me know. Otherwise it's an idea!

Cheers!

Good luck vevola. I think Calendar apps are some of the weakest of all the software categories. They'll do one thing really well, but then fail in another. The only thing I've found that convenient and close (within reach of the Pause/Break key at all times) is the ITSD Organizer from AltStone Software.

Rainlendar will definitely do the things you're after, and elegantly too; but there are other Win XP apps that do this directly onto the desktop...  Take a look at http://www.xemico.com/adc/index.html, and there is Desktop Calendar too (http://www.snapfiles.../get/desktopcal.html), and there are several Konfabulator widgets available that will do same - take a look at www.widgetgallery.com
