What gives with this:
http://fileforum.bet...KeyPass/1027267716/1

When I saw this I thought the worst. Something along the lines of: they make some program that looks like keypass, pass it off as the real maccoy, and steal all our sh*t...

Anyone have any alternate theories?

Similar but not quite the same:

KeyPass (shareware):
keypass.gifLooks like KeyPass, is named KeyPass, but is not... oops, I can't read... sorry

KeePass (free open source):
keepass.pngLooks like KeyPass, is named KeyPass, but is not... oops, I can't read... sorry

When the look is similar and so is the name, it is easy to become confused.

They're not the same at all. I use KeyPass and it's much better than KeePass. Not sure how anyone could confuse them...although I often see people mistakenly referring to the latter as KeyPass too often. It's kind of like how no one on the internet seems to know how to spell definitely.

Nighted,

I use KeyPass and it's much better than KeePass.

Please, could you expand on that?

It's kind of like how no one on the internet seems to know how to spell definitely.
;D ;D ;D

Hirudin,

Did you see that KeePass has just been updated to 1.07?

I'll just quote myself here:

OK I'll really try to get this right...

Keepass - the free, open-source, light-weight and easy-to-use password manager
Current version is 1.07 or 2.02 alpha

KeyPass - a shareware versatile password manager that types your passwords for you!
Is at version 4.5.4 and costs $29.95

Part of the confusion is that a Google search for Keypass brings up KeePass as result 1!

Also a Google for Keep Ass finds this useful "Hidden Camera Detector, which Helps Keep Your Naked Ass Off The Internet"

They're both KeyPass though aren't they?

The free one will also insert usernames and passwords for you. Setup your passwords like this:
Clipboard-1.pngLooks like KeyPass, is named KeyPass, but is not... oops, I can't read... sorry
Put the cursor into the first field you want filled out, "Username" in this case, and hit the Auto-Type Hotkey (Ctrl + Alt + A by default) and it'll fill in the form and hit enter.

I use this at least 10 times a day...

No, they are 2 entirely different applications.

I can't tell what is hilarious sarcasm and what's suppose to be serious.

What I mean, is they are both spelled the same, with the same case. Capital "K" and "P" lowercase "ey" and "ass".

I too, would like to know why you think KeyPass is better than KeePass  :tellme:
