KeePass v2 previews are out
« on: April 12, 2007, 03:27 PM »
KeePass is one of the best password management tools you can find, and it just happens to be free and open source.
You can find a mini-review of it on the DC forum here: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=4061.0

The author has just released some early downloads for version 2, which is a complete rewrite in .net.  It's stirred up a little controversy and you can read a new faq about version 2 on the site.

Is KeePass 1.x a dead end?
Why is KeePass 2.x being developed?
Will KeePass 1.x continue to be enhanced with new features?
Why has .NET been chosen as a framework for KeePass 2.x?
Security and Integration
Productivity
Portable and Cross-Platform
Will there be a KeePass 2.x version that won't require the .NET framework?
Should I switch to KeePass 2.x now?
Should I switch to KeePass 2.x when it becomes production level?
What are KeePass Classic and KeePass Professional?

Definitelly interesting!

I, as a user of Keepass, was very interested in this. Thanks a lot for the info! :D
Looks like, for the time being, i'll just keep to my current version of keepass, though ;)

You better! The previous alpha was pretty buggy. There are several excellent new features and enhancements though! Looking forward to the final version!

KeePass is a must-have. I'd be lost without it!

Let me be the 4th to praise KeyPass! I think I'll also wait 'til the "production" version comes out...

I love the portability of ver 1.xxx. Don't plan to upgrade to ver 2 due to the .net requirements. I run mine off my thumbdrive.

Hello,
Just one comment : The name is Keepass and not Keypass which is an other software, not free (http://www.dobysoft.com/).
I like Keepass very much too :)

Thanks for pointing out the new beta, I will test it.
