DriveImageXML--new disk imaging freeware
« on: March 10, 2007, 03:35 PM »
This disk imaging software was introduced in late January at http://www.runtime.org/dixml.htm  This is a completely enabled program NOT shareware or a demo tied to a paid "full featured" version. Been testing it and its looking good, competitive with my copy of Acronis True Image 8.0. Also available with a couple of enthusiastic  user reviews at Snapfiles.

I came across DriveImage XML (again) on the UBCD4win windows boot disc.
Had been trying unsuccesfully to restore a SelfImage image & saw the DriveImage XML icon on the desktop.

It is looking good. Did a restore on a different partition which looked pretty much in order
Limitations:
Cant restore to a smaller partition than the original copied one
Cant do incremental backups for images... not that I expected either!

heres a link for a nice how-to automate it using a batch file
