It does not seem to have any of the features of Alcohol 52%, so I wouldn't expect it to, but since I don't run it I can't be 100% sure myself.

Seems to be a slightly older version than the current one and no updateable. Still a good deal - and the upgrade to the latest version is very cheap.

If you like Ashampoo stuff it is worth going to their offers page. Basically you can say how much you want to pay and they repluy by email to agree or not. I used this in the past and got some good deals ... I don't know if they take past purchase history into account when allowing big discounts.

They didn't used to have much that interested me, but they've got a bunch of new stuff now. Anyone that hasn't checked out their stuff in a while might want to check back.

Agreed. Don't necessarily fall for their giant specials without looking into them, because they usually include the previous version of most of the apps, but they are also for the most part high quality. Burning Studio is great, and small. I have most of their products. The new version of Magical Defrag looks pretty neat, and there's a pre-order special going on at http://ashampoo.com. I got the upgrade version pre-ordered for like $7.

For the record there is no Ashampoo Burning Studio 2007. The latest version is Burning Studio 6, and as previously mentioned this download is for the previous version, Burning Studio 5. It is a full version, however, if anyone hasn't tried it or just needs to burn something. Version 6 even handles BluRay discs, though I don't have such a burner nor the money to get even the discs.

Actually the free version from vnunet was also version 6 (at least the one I downloaded with a free code was version 6.2) just not the latest build and you couldn't update it. They do seem to have branded the free version Ashampoo Burning Studio 2007 - on screen and even in the file name (which is confusing).

Actually it is so good I am seriously considering dumping Nero and all its bloatfest.

It has the one feature so often missing - verify the media content after writing. Personally I find this absolutely essential as I have produced too many coasters over the years that apparently wrote correctly and then didn't verify. I find it hard to believe that so many burning applications are missing this function.

Actually you can pay only $7.99 if you use the link from their newsletter. I got it for $7.99 today and the newsletter expired last month. Same goes for their other products.

Well this app certainly does - I just wish they could make the menu a bit less confusing, each time I have to hunt for the option I need.

I got version 6 at the time of this thread.
I haven't used it much - tried one multisession DVD - it wouldn't update & I sort of gave up there.
In fairness I should try again.
Anyone else had problems with it?

Video DVDs
Create Video DVDs from normal movie files.
Almost all formats are supported (WMV, AVI, MPEG, ASF, ...).

Modified copies of bootable discs will stay bootable!
So you can now easily add fil to a bootable disc.

Allows you to directly change file systems
UDF 1.02-2.6, ISO 9660, Joliet are supported.
Make discs bootable and specify the bootimage.

Improved backup and restore files
Specify at what size backup files will be split up.
Select files and folders that you want to restore.

Improved Audio-CD ripping
Store your audio tracks as MP3 files.

Don't believe any prices from Ashampoo - they always have special offers (usually many on the same product all at the same time!) and if you go to their website there is a page somewhere that you can suggest a price too - I have used that and got a whole pile of stuff in the past cheaper than even their best special offers.

I have no probs with Ashampoo Burning Suite though I only really use it to burn DVDs from folders, otherwise I use ImgBurn which is excellent (and free)
