Ms Dewey: the search engine with a face & personality
« on: October 19, 2006, 03:22 AM »
This is a unique approach to presenting a search engine.

Meet Ms. Dewey.

My search for 'cool flash games' returned as the #1 result a site I have been trying to find in my huge list of bookmarks for quite some time:

http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/  (the games are very sweet and pretty)

I am not quite ready to give up Google just yet, but it was amusing...especially if you don't type anything and she gets impatient.  :D

very slick - what can you say, sex sells.

(while the front page is very well done, the results display is totally unusable).

I don't know she gets pretty raunchy with her whip though ....

Sorry having her pouting about the screen and whining that you aren't talking to her is enough to make me switch off the computer before I hit something -  maybe there are benefits ....

I have been told there are some quirky things about her:

Search for something really disgusting & raunchy...and keep repeating the search over & over...at least 7 times.

She threatened to call the cops on someone for what they were searching for.

They won't tell me what it was though. ;D

I'm avoiding this thread, I refuse to admit I like her.  That website is -so- stupid.

I hate that kind of stuff. I hate the fluffy search dog in XP. I just want 2k classic style searches, dammit.  :-* locate32  :-*

EDIT: she refuses to load here, IE as well as FF. Stops loading at ~60%.

Worked fine for me f0dder... I use Firefox. But I agree, I prefer to keep using google or others... I don't need to wait for my results.

if the results were presented in a reasonably usable way then maybe it would be of some worth.

it says a lot when a 'search' engine doesn't even present results that are easy to navigate.

i guess i'm deliberately missing the whole point of the thing.

I can't imagine this was meant to be -useful- by any means or to replace a real dedicated search engine.  It's a toy! Right?

You can also get to this from http://www.orisinal.com/. This one takes you to the link above, but it's easier to remember. It's just like "Original" but with an "S" in place of the "G."

Oh, and I'm not even going to do a Ms. Dewey search. . .

It's funny to watch her if you don't put anything into the search box.  It's pretty hopeless as a search engine though.

Haha, the only entertainment to be had here is putting in dirty things and seeing what stupid comment she has about it, sometimes with hilarious results. I'll spare you details. ;) But she does get a bit offended at times. Haven't had her threaten to call the cops just yet...

I'm betting that the more desperate the people who own this are for success, the less clothes their model will wear. So I'm holding out for "naked search assistant". :P
