This thread is for bringing into reality luvnbeast's brainchild as expressed in this post:

https://www.donation....msg453190#msg453190

The program requirements can be extracted as:

an alarm feature instead of a shutdown option instead? By having the computer play m3u's or even a folder of music as an option.

It would turn it into an alarm clock as well and be even more valuable as a minimalistic app especially if you kept the same options to delay the alarm

remake the shut down 8 app into the tiniest timer/alarm/timed shutdown program!

Upon activation of the program, a menu opens with the options to shutdown, restart, hibernate, or timer to shutdown...

in a cascading menu you have 10 minute shutdown, 30 minute shutdown, 1 hour shutdown or a 2 hour shutdown.

Then upon selecting the timed shutdown, a popup window with a counter tells you how long until shutdown... which is changeable with +- buttons next to the timer.

So either TIMP could be bundled and put in the same folder as this alarm program or the alarm program could be separated with TIMP inside of it (most of the core programming). Thus being a small wake up timer.

The GitHub repo is opened for "ShutdownB":

https://github.com/publicdomain/shutdownb

--a very direct wink to the "8" :), as well as intending being another take, or version... a B-side with its own plus

Feel free to brainstorm here as the program becomes ALIVE,

Vic

Okay!  :) I think this is what you want in the menu (with a plus):

Alarm:

Now I continue developing the main form's action!

Update: Improved the timer menu to include all actions :-*

ShutdownB_timer-menu-improvement.png

Added settings menu with an option to modify alarm command line, so it is now universal:

ShutdownB development continues!

This is amazing... and diabolical at the same time!   :P  Yet I am almost scared of some kind of copyright infringement due to the icon they used.... Might we be able to change the icon in the tray and popup timer window? I mean shrinking a picture shouldn't be too much of a problem... Even a shrunk picture of Frankenstein might work...

Glad you're liking it! I've already started pushing to GitHub:

First ALPHA has the core functionality done:

ShutdownB_v0-1-0-alpha-1.png

... I am almost scared of some kind of copyright infringement due to the icon they used....

Worry not! This particular icon being used is open/free for the taking, since it is the public icon made by OpenClipart-Vectors at https://pixabay.com/...tdown-symbol-1294532

If you open both programs you can compare side-by-side for the slight variations... (definitely not the same!)

Also, do feel free to brainstorm & follow/watch the GitHub repo for real-time progress.

I'm officially at home & ready to serve so let's make this exactly what you aspire (or better!) as the new versions roll-up + pushed

Second ALPHA version implements timer functionality in full :

ShutdownB_v0-1-0-alpha-2.png

We are on the "plus" side already as it includes custom time:

Time to develop your requested alarm functionality!  :-*

 The menus look nice and the functionality of the popup looks great! Although the functionality of TIMP should not be underrated. Might the alarm command be a folder sector fed into TIMP if ShutdownB was in the same folder as TIMP? This way the two could be a tiny package deal and portable.

The /play command is shaped like this:

  • /play
Resume the track if paused or play the selected one in the list.
  • /play <number>
Play the track at passed index, as per the currently-displayed order.
  • /play "<directory>"
Working as per your suggestion: loads the passed directory.
  • /play current
Plays the current directory where TIMP is.

So, the "feeding" of directory is auto-magic when starting the program using the /play current command.

Sure! No prob. I'm adding conditional integration with TIMP like this:

If timp.exe is found in the startup folder with no previous saved setting detected, then set default alarm command to: timp.exe /play current

Else, leave the alarm command's FileName property intact so the user can input any command as preferred.

This adds both integration & flexibility to ShutdownB :)

Third ALPHA version implements alarm functionality (including TIMP integration):

ShutdownB_v0-1-0-alpha-3.png

ShutdownB_v0-1-0-alpha-3_alarm.png

You simply put the ShutdownB.exe file inside TIMP's folder to execute "/play current" command automatically after the alarm triggers.

Next version gets the program out of ALPHA stage to become feature-complete with Settings implemented :-*

The command input works ok... but the timer function is locked on 0... so the only way I could gauge the timer is by noticing the time of action... so the timer display should work before integration with TIMP... I mean it seems like a step in the right direction though as if the timer goes negative in the timer's adjustment it starts the right timp directory ok.... I'm sorry my input might not be very helpful....

You're right! Thank you! Rest assured your personal input is helpful indeed! (It is based on what you need and that's the most important thing :))

Please confirm the timer update is fixed/working on this new v0.1.1 updated version:

Download: ShutdownB_v0-1-1.zip
GitHub tag: https://github.com/publicdomain/shutdownb/releases/tag/v0.1.1

(So we can call it feature-complete )

Thanks :-*

VICtory over Shutdown B as it interfaces wonderfully with the current version of TIMP ... so this will definitely on track to be better than Shutdown 8 and I can't wait to see the Frankenstein that has emerged from the two... I say this is a WIN so far!!

FAN-TAS-TIC! fantastic The focus is on making TIMP feature-complete for us to call it a WIN+WIN and proceed to the merger
