Feature Request v2 - multiple configurations
« on: July 12, 2005, 09:00 PM »
lots of people have requested support for multiple configurations.
here are the issues to be resolved:
1) having totally different configurations is troublesome because things like aliases and commands probably should be shared between all configurations.  so what config info should be in a configuration file, and what info should be shared?
2) how should user be able to switch between configurations? is a menu sufficient, or do we also need configurable hotkeys to switch.

Two things I think would be important for a config file:
  -  folders to be searched (with an option to make the configuration have the same folders as the standard search... saves time entering them all in manually!)
  -  an extension filter

With these two options you can create something that will only find mp3s, pics, or documents in your normal folders for these files.

I think multiple configurations and multiple hot keys would be good.

Example one configuration for search programs, another to search bookmarks/favorites and a third to search files/documents
