IDEA: move/copy files and folders via context menu
« on: January 18, 2022, 02:16 PM »
Another idea to improve the windows context menu.

From time to time I sort my "Downloads" folder or any other folder and the stuff needs to go to specific folders.
It would be nice to have a context entry "move to" and then select a predefined target folder from a list.

I found a good start for that in another forum tenforums
But there they have some minor issues (some say it just works for files and not for folders, others say it doesn't move a complete folder, just the contents.
And it would be nice to easily add and remove that menu entry and have a gui with folder selector for the target, set a nicname for the target and add separators.

Similar to that example picture:

Great idea! This should be doable with a GUI for adding sub-items + registry edits.

Repo @ [EDIT:] https://github.com/p...copy-or-move-to-menu

...Let me ponder a bit about the best way to go for us to tackle this after "Copy image" menu

Cheers!

Repo @ https://github.com/p...cdomain/move-to-menu

I assume the main use will be move to but maybe keep in mind also add the possibility for a copy to menu.

Sure, no hassle  ;)
I often come up with such ideas. I can do a little bit of coding (mainly AHK and C#) but often it's just too big for me.
Great that you grabbed directly both of my ideas

If they are done I have another great Idea on my sketchbook, that waits for a coder  :D

Thanks for your help!  :)

Let's see what does Pareidol say about it.

(Hey! Whether from me or any other coder, the main idea here is to assist a fellow user with his/her requirement :-*)

This tool looks good (so far).
For my taste it wouldn't need the other functions, I like tools that have one function and that function works great.
And I even would like to have the "move to" action diret accessible with no "sub menu", but those are luxury problems.

Maybe Publicdomain is still interrested to create an open-source sollution, I would like it  ;)

I thought this other request was forgotten in the abyss of the internet.

For the "file move" we have a sollution for now, I think in the interest of everyone, it is better to go on with the other one which has no sollution so far (maybe also anybody knows a sollution for that as well).

Maybe in future you have some spare time for the open source file move (that the github page doesn't stay so abandoned)  ;)

Please check out the WONDERFUL replies the fellows made @ your thread! (the DC community rocks!)

Okay, in order to make the program more comprehensive, a new repo named "CopyOrMoveToMenu" was created to replace it :)

Yeah! This is a dynamic creation process. I'm in to code your exact request as "ClipHoard":

Repo @ https://github.com/p...blicdomain/cliphoard

Going to make it as your next program. The idea is to be the most useful!

P.S. great image editing. got the request across perfectly
