Fun Run - Bluetooth discussion (walkie-talkie)
« on: September 17, 2020, 02:35 PM »
For Nany 2020 !
I am trying again (and again) to lose weight .

Here we are with the coronavirus crisis.

So.

I need to talk to someone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is possible use an android mobile device to talk with other next mobile devices ?. Can I establish a sort of channel between two to ten participants . A sort of group to discuss while we are walking maintaining the security distance (12 meters or less is enough.... ) .

Obviously you can do this with a whatsapp group, sending audio messages, but I try with no cost because i have no data in my mobiles.

I remember hear about a touristic application for guides consisting in give the explanations with the use of a mobile device.

Is a sort of private (or public anyway) communications between a group very near by bluetoooth or similar method.

Do you have the app for this ?

Isn't 10 to 12 meters, about the max a BT connection will cover, (see below) stil within (loud) talking distance? Or you could buy a cheap set of walky talkies that does exactly what you need, just tune all to the same frequency.

Edit: Corrected.

I guess Blutooth Chat is what you want.
Everything else would need Internet connection as far as i know, even corona stuff.

Writing a letter, stick it on a brick, throw it. Might have more range than BT and you train your body \(°-°)/

Well, that seems a bit out of time, BT has a range of 100 meters in modern (v3.1+) versions, and even up to 400 meters in v5 BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) so that should be usable.

I guess Blutooth Chat is what you want.
Except that it doesn't seem to support speech, only chat and images.

This one, WiFi / Bluetooth Call & Chat does also support calls over both BT and WiFi.

It's a good idea. I remember I have one set from my old (and not so old) times in the mountain !

But can have a set for connecting more than two persons ?

If possible sure I can get something cheap online....

I have documented about walkie talkies.

Usually are half duplex : one speak, rest listen. I can have a lot of devices . usually are compatible in the same band....

Full duplex : everybody talking is by ip or wifi. So is not interesting....

But it seems that you've already discounted walkie talkies so not sure how helpful this will be.

AFAICS, only nr. 7, Intercom, supports Bluetooth, but 1 is enough ;D

But as the others say, they use very little in the way of bandwidth, so I'd think you can move away from Bluetooth personally.

At the present moment I have assumed that a mobile may be a radio receptor, but in bluetooth is a poor transmitter (0 - 1 meter , maximum 10 - 20 meters, samsung J5 I fear 1 meter....)
So the walkie-talkie mobile options are only if you have data.

There is another option with IP or wifi (need data then....).

So the only answer I think is using external walkie-talkies. In fact I have two motorolas . I have charged with the batteries and ready for next wednesday.....

Usually other walkie talkies half duplex are compatible. So another member with other "pair" may be useful.

They have to prepare and disinfect the devices before lend.

P.D. This measure is pending of being approved by the members. I don't understand but there is a lot of fear. I think if I can assure more perhaps is possible. Perhaps using additionally an app like TraceCovid.

Do you know If I can use in Spain and obtain results ?

Even with two devices may be possible.
As we know not all people walk at the same speed.
So one walkie talkie for the runners
and the other for the walkers.
