Who'd have thought there was so much technical knowledge and creativity tied up in shoelaces? Most people figure they learned all they needed to know about shoelaces in kindergarten! Ian's Shoelace Site contains all sorts of shoelace information, some of it useful, some just for fun. If you wear shoes with laces (or anything else that does up with laces), you're bound to find something here that they don't teach in kindergarten.

I love sites like that which try to make everyday things better.

I've been using Ian's knots for well over a year now, and they really are an improvement. The technique can be a bit tricky at first, but when it's "in the fingers" you don't want to go back.

Wow! I'm familiar with a number of knots from my time in the Navy, none of which are really applicable to shoe securing -- I had no idea I was in the dark ages with "Bunny Ears".  It's generally a moot point for me, as neither my boots nor shoes have laces . . . but perhaps I can send Jerry to school one-upping his teachers when they issue instructions for the bunny ears!
