China has banned government use of Windows 8, Microsoft Corp's latest operating system, a blow to a U.S. technology company that has long struggled with sales in the country.

A real consistent Linux desktop experience and MS would be in true trouble.

I guess I'm a little surprised at this. Chinese IT culture is a little out there - so they say they don't like malware but their censorship policies are pretty fierce.
