Clever color folder
« on: February 26, 2014, 07:51 AM »
Do you know an application able to determine when browsing with Windows Explorer if a folder has files or not colouring the folders with no files ?

Best Regards

I am going to tell you what's for :
I am beginning to learn SALSA dance because i am a little .... fat.... Ejem.
so i begin to collect figures or steps names and create a folder for each one.
Then i have a lot of folders.
I have to document with videos each figure or steps.
But when you have a lot of folders i forget what folders have been documented. So I would like to know quickly what folders are empty.

Best Regards

I am searching for software like this :
Fast Empty Folder Finder
Multicommander

The first one is slow. I have to locate the subfolder.
The second one is a general purpose folder manager like directory opus and others.

I would like a quickly filter.

Best Regards

I think you'd be better off using an Information Manager e.g. one where you can simply link to videos; and expand the outline to see what has linked content and what is still 'empty'.

or rename the folders, using a pattern, when you put something into the folder.
As an example: "step_01" is not empty, but "!step_01" is still empty.

Keep in mind that the MT Icon app only does one level of recursion.  That is, it only looks for empty folders one level deeper than the root folder you specify.  This was as per the request of the original poster.

Another way, outside Windows Explorer, to see if a folder has files is to use Eagle Mode. In it all directories, folders and files are viewable and you can zoom in on any. If any folder does not show files below it, there are none. You can use Eagle Mode from a CD to view contents of a hard drive or USB drive. There is also a PET package to add it to Linux Puppy.
