25 Phrases Americans Say That Other Countries Don't Understand

I wonder if all of these originated in the States:
unfortunately they often dont give info about the origins of the phrases.
Growing up in Ireland in the 70s and 80s, I would have known (or gotten to know at least by the 90s) the following ones:
- ‘Quitting Cold Turkey’
- ‘Take a Raincheck’ -- think I only got to know this one in the later 80s
- ‘Spill the Beans’
- ‘Riding Shotgun’ -- the origin of this unfortunately not properly explained: I know the term well, not sure when it reached .ie
- ‘Piece of Cake’
- ‘More Bang for Your Buck’
- ‘Let’s Go Dutch’
- ‘Jump on the Bandwagon’
- ‘Jonesing’ (1990's for me)
- ‘For the Birds’
- ‘Flake’ (late 80s to 90s for me)
