Gid Tanner & the Skillet-Lickers' 1926 recording of "Ya Gotta Quit Kickin My Dog Around". The accompanying animation is from Walt Disney's "Alice and the Dog Catcher" from 1924 (pre-Mickey)

Old folk music and a cartoon. I don't know how popular the Skillet-Lickers were then, but there are more videos with their music on YouTube.
