anyone knows how to turn off the Chrome notification tray icon?

does anyone know how to turn off the Chrome notification tray icon? has been showing up in the recent updates and there is only 'mute' options on its right-click.

hehe.. considering that option as well until this new "feature" doesn't automagically appears in the system tray.

What extensions do you have installed that would cause that to appear there in the first place?

i don't have any extensions on this browser and i also tried disabling all the plugins by going to chrome://plugins/ and uncheck the following:

Chromoting Viewer
Chrome PDF Viewer
Java(TM)
Native Client

for posterity.

1) Browse to: chrome://flags/
2) Find the item named "Enable Rich Notifications Windows, Chrome OS". Change it to "Disabled" and then use the Relaunch button to restart chrome.
