Bitdefender "lifetime" $80
« on: April 23, 2012, 02:33 AM »
On http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ you can right now see an advert from BitDefender.
You may at first be given another advert, because it is part of a "AdChoices" (click in upper right corner of the ad, to get another offer)

The offer itself: http://www.bitdefend...om/2012/lifetime/is/

Edited:
Once again it is about reading the small letters:
>>Lifetime protection key is valid for the computer you first install it on, for the lifetime of the machine, not exceeding 5 years<< Hrmff! "Lifetime"!

Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 is a silent security solution providing antivirus, antispam, antiphising, social networking protection and parental controls. PC Lifetime Edition keeps your PC secure throughout its lifetime for a low one-time payment.

    Antivirus
    Antiphishing
    Firewall
    Antispam
    Parental Control
    Social Network Protection

;D

It's free* too!

(* = for redefinitions of the word "free" that mean costing $80)

If that is true, that is pretty typical of Giveaway of the Day, it's basically a demo. I tend to avoid that site.

As I understood it, the offer itself is not related to GOTD, it was just where Curt saw the ad pop up?

I am afraid BitDefender themselves are to blame for this interesting use of the English language.

Here is a FAQ about it from their support section:

http://www.bitdefend...ime-Edition-905.html

On how many computers can I install Bitdefender PC Lifetime Edition?

Bitdefender PC Lifetime Edition can be used for the entire lifetime of one computer.

Can I transfer Bitdefender PC Lifetime Edition from one computer to another?

Bitdefender PC Lifetime Edition has been designed to be used on one computer.
Since the product license key is tied to the computer where it’s first installed, it cannot be transferred to another computer.

(again of course, for "entire lifetime" = "5 years")
