Some Suggestions
« on: March 31, 2006, 08:26 AM »
Hi, I'm new to Screenshot Captor.
Great program, especially the annotation features.

I noticed three things that might need some brush up:

1 - When I have set a delay before the capturing is done I'd like to see the remaining seconds somewhere. When I get it right the delay mode is only shown by the red (instead blue) icon screen.
A good idea would be the remaining seconds as a tooltip at the cursor or as a balloon tooltip at the icon.

2 - The button layout and window behaviour in the options dialogue is against the known standards. In Windows-apps one is used
OK - Cancel or OK - Apply - Cancel while Screenshot Captor uses Cancel - OK
That makes it easy to hit the wrong button by accident.
Additionally the options are also saved when you only switch the tab, without clicking OK which is rather irritating.

3 - Right now the capturing is done by Click and holding mouse button - Drag - Release mouse button to capture.
I'm missing the possibility to adjust my selection, so it would be better with Click and release to set the first corner of the capture area, move mouse to draw the area and finally click to capture. That would give us the possibility for a key press or right-click in-between that would fix the other corner of the to-be-captured area while switching to the first one to adjust it (I saw that on MWSnap, there it's the Space key which does that).

#1 is a good idea, i will put it on todo list
#2 again i agree and others have brought this up, it's on the todo list, but near the bottom :(
#3 there are actually 2 region capture modes - the redbox one does allow you to adjust your region before capturing (make sure you have redbox mode option for capturing regions); however i always encourage people to just capture the entire screen and crop later.

Thanks for considering the first two.
As for the redbox mode - forgive me but I couldn't figure out completely what this is for and how to use it. Is there a more detailed description somewhere, especiall about all the options?

the help needs updating, but basically there is a tab on options for "red box" capture mode;
it triggers by default when you do a windows object capture.

hi there!
i have some more suggestions ...
- you know website-watcher .. i think ... it shows a button on the browser to simple add the current sites .. a button on every app would be nice .. so the mouse-users can even capture without using the hotkeys ... i know the rightclick-thing but a 60 year old guy told me it would be way easier for him and he had a screenshotprogramme with this feature .. i couldnt find it ...
- is it possible to make the programme easy to translate? i'd like to translate it into german .. also for the 60 year old guy ...
an excellent program so far!!
keep going!
