How to get exact matches?
« on: November 01, 2011, 01:22 PM »
Hi all
I download this very attractive program today and have been very impressed with its speed and styling. One issue I cannot seem to resolve is the accuracy of the search results. This is the scenario: I've chosen to search only in My Documents for 'Henry' and get 22 results; the first 11 are files which contain the word 'Henry'; the last 11 do not contain the word.
So I'm thinking that there must be a way to filter out these 'false' positives' but can't find it anywhere in Preferences or Help (including online).
Any help for a struggling newbie would be most appreciated.

Welcome to the site!

I think i can answer your question.

The results you are seeing are probably the result of non-contiguous matching.  That is, the results are files that might match something like "Heavy Norway".

Now these should get low scores compared to results that have the full word "henry" in them, so most people leave non-contiguous matching enabled.

BUT if you want to disable it, you'll find the option here:

One benefit of disabling this option is that search speed should increase a bit.
