Listary Update: The new and improved Listary 3 released
« on: April 03, 2011, 02:34 PM »
The latest release of Listary now looks more like FileBox Extender, see attached image.

Listary 3.0 has finally been released!

Listary focuses on improving your file experience now. The most exciting new
feature is the toolbar added to standard file open/save dialogs. You can get
quick and direct access to your favorite folders through it, and yes, you'll
have the "recently opened file and folder list" like Microsoft Office 2010
in almost all applications! (You can turn off this feature and clear the
recent list easily in the toolbar or "Options > Recent", and everything is
configurable just as before.)

Some other changes:
# Automatically select last opened file in file open/save dialog.
# The leading "/" for commands and favorite folders is no longer needed.
# You can always use the hot key Win + W to let Listary show up in Explorer
or file open/save dialog even if the input focus is not on a list.
# The Favorite feature supports submenu now.
# Some new commands.

Download link: http://www.listary.c...download/Listary.exe
Enjoy it!

P.S. You'll notice that some features (like text editing) are missing in
this new version. They will be either packed into separate applications or
added back in the next version according to user feedback. So please let me
know if you miss some removed features.

For some reason I have never tested this one. How is it?  :tellme:

I have a copy of the free version running right now, but somehow I am not very tempted to try it out! I am not quite sure why I am reluctant, but I guess it has to do with the many "Buy Pro"-links. I don't mind the Pro's price, but I do mind the tactics.

I am not into regex, so for me the best argument for this tool would probably be the FbX similarity, and the (missing) text editing...

But how is it?

I like it.  It helps with file lists, does a good deal of what FBX does, and it's portable.  At least, there are both installer and portable versions.

I am not quite sure why I am reluctant, but I guess it has to do with the many "Buy Pro"-links. I don't mind the Pro's price, but I do mind the tactics.

I bought a license when it was first on Bits du Jour, so haven't seen that  :)

You needn't worry about regexp, because you don't have to use them.  And at present regexp are disabled  ;)  because the author is overhauling the regexp engine.  You can get the text editing feature in improved form by using the same author's now-separate freeware Text Editor Anywhere:

Installer: http://www.listary.c...ownload/TEASetup.exe
Portable version: http://www.listary.c...load/TEAPortable.zip

I've already suggested he update his web site...
