Please note it requires enough people purchase the deal.  The FAQ indicates :

"If not enough people sign up, then the deal is canceled, and we will refund the money you paid to your Paypal account. Better luck next time! So if you really want the offer, be sure to either beg or threaten your friends."

Thanks for the info. I looked again it needs 3 more to reach 20.

Over 20 purchases now, the deal is available !  Now is ASO3 worth it ? I wouldn't say.

Quite right but for this price well one can set a definite opinion after few maintenance.

Thanks ha14 for spotting this bargain. Been waiting for a good deal on ASO for ages after reading many good reviews. Bought 2 licenses. Cheers

I haven't tried ASO3, but I've notice this feature that should make it worth the asked $5 (FIVE!):

Disk Explorer

The Disk Explorer utility features a Windows Explorer-style interface that displays all of the available drives on your system on the left, and all of the folders contained in the selected drive on the right. With the intuitive pie chart graphic, you'll be able to see, at a glance, what types of files take up the most space on your disk. Have you ever wondered how much of your disk space is taken up by music files? With Disk Explorer, this is no longer a mystery! Want to clean up your drive and free up some space? Disk Explorer provides you with a handy list of the 100 largest files on the drive.

In theory, this makes it a competitor to the $27.50 ($55) Key Metric FolderSizes Home (Pro)

Smart PC Care + Game Optimizer + Driver Updater + System Protector + Disk Tools + Backup Manager + PC Fixer + Disk Optimizer + Undelete + Registry Cleaner + Registry Optimizer + System Cleaner + Disk Explorer + Uninstall Manager + Memory Optimizer + Privacy Protector + Secure Delete + Secure Encryptor + System File Backup & Restore + System & Security Advisor + Duplicate Files Remover + Startup Manager

Of course all this is worth $5. [attachimg=#]

Hi Folks,

The FolderSizes program looks interesting, to compare with WinDirStat and others.

FolderSizes - Last Freeware Version

As for ASO, I have most of those functions with dedicated programs, usually freeware.

FolderSizes:
non-profit users can ask key metric for an non-profit discount = 30%off
i asked once and he sent me the discount.

... the $27.50 ($55) Key Metric FolderSizes Home (Pro)

Do you mean 30% off the PRO version's listed price?

[Bionic71]

sure, you'll send them an email and simply ask that you would like a non-profit license (pro as well)
hint: the coupon also works when upgrading - 50%+30%=80%

for first time user, well.. 30%off for non-profit
maintenance periods, i recall they are pretty long, you can look there at their changelog if interested

x86/x64, commandline support, works fine with windows 7

When uninstalled, like so many others of this kind of programs, ASO3 will forget to remove its entries in Windows > Planned Jobs ('daily updates'). I am a little disappointed that Revo Uninstaller doesn't find these jobs.

ASO looks like a piece of crapware to me - a zillion different little tools, including the ever-present snake-oil crapware like "memory optimizers", vaguely described "System Protector" et cetera. I'd stay clear, find decent versions (probably available as freeware) of the 2-3 tools you actually need from the suite, and never look back.

[Curt]

Test it, or (edited), before posting.

I've looked at their website and skimmed through the marketing-crap there. I've seen enough similar products in the past... it's all marketed at "slightly above the non-tech end-user" who thinks he needs a lot of stuff, doesn't know enough to get proper individual tools, and doesn't know enough to realize the product he paid for is half-assed crapware.
