How to create a category?

I'm trying to use Point Motivator, but so far without much success.   How can I create a category?  How can I create an item or task within a category?    I've used the "Quick Add" feature but it adds points along with the task, and that isn't what I want at all.

Hi Anne,

The way you create new categories and item types is by going into the "Item Definitions" -> "Launch Item Definition Editor" dialog.
From there you can load the default item definition file or create your own from scratch.  The help file describes the process.

It's not exactly the most user-friendly process I'll admit -- keep in mind that there are very few users of Point Motivator -- it's just one of my programs that never really caught on -- maybe because it requires quite a bit of work to configure these kinds of things.

Thanks very much for your reply.  It has helped me understand what is going on.   

There is some definite interest, I think, in a program of this type.   If you ever want to re-visit this concept, I bet people could offer you some great ideas for making it very popular.
