Best dense-information, detailed-illustration books of things?

I really love these reference books that are densely packed with small illustrations or photos on every page, cataloging animals, insects, etc.

Hm... I'm thinking that perhaps there is a fine line between "Sublime Honor", and Short Straw...

The whole DK Eyewitness series is like that but they are intended for older kids, even though adults love reading them too.
