I want to post a photo and to make it appear in the post, how do I do it?

what is the right code for it?

[img]url of image[\img] doesn't seem to work

right.

now there is a way to show an image hosted on another site using [img]url[/img] but we HIGHLY discourage it, since inevitably over time the remotely hosted images disappear, resulting in confusion.

wouldn't it be better the forum to automatically save in its cache all the images posted using (as it already does with attachments) ?

this automated process would save the time of all users to save the images to their computers and then upload them to the forums as attachments

that's a nice idea for sure, but not trivial to implement.

it's Simple Machines (SMF). why not try search in their forums, there might be a mod that does that..
