with all respect to the Tamer, which I was running for a couple of years, it really is my impression that the Lasso, which I am running now, is somewhat more advanced - especially for people like me with a lot of background processes running.

Be sure to try the CPUEater demo they have on their website (follow the "Graphical Demo" link) with and without Lasso.  Would be interesting to know how Tamer handles this demo ?

One of the GOTD's better offerings and an update of previous give away (3.84.7 from 3.84.3).  Author also seems conscientious.

Installed on a couple of my machines (XP single core and Vista dual core) and appears to have increased performance although more so on XP box.  Had an issue with icon not appearing in XP box's system tray so only time will tell whether that's been resolved.
Compaq Presario 5716 (98), Dell Dimension 4700 (XP), Lenovo ThinkPad T530 (Win 7 Pro > Win 10 Pro).

Process Lasso is an icon when it comes to updating the installed file. All you need to do, after unpacking the two new files, is to db-click the QuickUpgrade.exe. End of story!!

Beware : when you go from V3 to V4 you should not use QuickUpgrade, but the full installer, otherwise it might mess up some settings (as read on Bitsum Website, somewhere).

The previous GOTD's Process Lasso was upgradeable.
Don't know about this one.

Process Lasso Pro at GAOTD (Sept 28, 2012)
« Reply #13 on: September 28, 2012, 02:54 AM »
Giveaway of the Day - free licensed software daily. Process Lasso 6.0 - Process Lasso is NOT yet another task manager; it is a process, power, and CPU optimization and automation utility.
-28 Sept 2012

There are separate 32 and 64 -bits versions.

http://www.giveawayo...m/process-lasso-6-0/

You will receive one (1) month of free updates. After this, you must buy a license, continue using the build you have, *or* switch back to the Free Edition.

While you need NOT pay anything, we recommend you take the advantage of our offer to upgrade to a Lifetime License for only $21.95. This is a special offer.
Alternatively, we'll give you an Entire Home (up to 5 PCs) license with Lifetime Updates for only $29.95!
-Bitsum

The author is saying this (in post # 2):

I am grateful to have the opportunity to interact with the Giveaway of the Day community again.

So, what has changed in version 6 ? Well, Process Lasso has moved into the future – and continues to move that way. Its process setting automation (e.g. default priorities and affinities) as well as ‘watchdog’ rules (e.g. restart if virtual memory exceeds X), have grown as important as ProBalance. Speaking of ProBalance, it can now change I/O priorities, change core parking behavior, and more.

As for CPU core parking, Process Lasso now includes our simple ParkControl application to control CPU core parking on supported systems in *real time*. Note that this is for select supporting modern systems only.

Power Automation is a continued big part of Process Lasso, with the extension of Energy Saver and application power profiles. We believe this is the easiest, safest, and most efficient automation form there is. You can control almost all hardware options with custom power profiles, from core parking and CPU scaling to hard drive spin down time.

This give away, we are doing things a bit differently. Instead of every user getting the same key, each user will get his or her own Process Lasso key. You need simply sign up for it (two fields, name and email). We’re not spammers and don’t share this with anyone! This will let us give you more personalized service later, if needed. It will also allow us to track abusers while easily letting pass those who legitimately use their license.

Thanks to all who use Bitsum software. I endeavor to meet your needs! If you need anything, have questions, etc.. please let me know (email preferred, no guarantees as to answers on comment boards).

again today, Friday 4 January 2012: http://www.giveawayo...om/process-lasso-60/

I have tested it, and say the new version 6 is better / more efficient than version 5 was.

They have new prices on the homepage:
