Agreed, the water one is by far more impressive. I think I might have to buy one!

Are you two crazy? There's a giant hose hanging off your back for the water one. That's like having a remote controlled car with a wire from the car to the controller.

I'd rather the "real" jetpack that would let me fly the skies without so much limitation as a stupid yellow hose plugging into the water.

I´d prefer flying with the wing (seems to be more action and fun):

The water one looks like a boatload of fun, but the air-based Martin one looks more technologically impressive - and I really dig the guy's enthusiasm, it's obvious that this is his life's dream come true :)

The Wing thing looks like a major adrenaline trip - pretty darn dangerous :o. Wonder if it has military uses :)

It has been developed during the last 10 years (then I read the first time of it) only for military usage and now they want to produce the wing for the free market as a new sport. Detailed interviews were given 5 years ago. The first public videos came up during the last year.

Dude, that's Yves Rossy, the crazy-a... ahem... courageous former airline pilot.

His last outburst of insanity brave endeavour was to jet-pack it from Morocco to Spain.

Looks like it will be Adam Strange pretty soon.  Just have to watch out the rocket exhaust doesn't fry your ass.

With all these gizmos one has to contemplate what happens when the "engine" stalls. If it's "drop like a stone" then I don't even want to be a passenger.

What doesn't?

But seriously, remote droids are the wave of the future on the battlefield.

Just launch your Raptor aircraft, hook up by satellite link, and curl up with a nice cuppa tea in a bunker someplace in Virginia and wreck havoc on people who have absolutely zero opportunity to hit you back.

It's also a lot easier to sell military action to your citizens when you can assure them that there will be NO casualties on your side.

Welcome to the 21st Century Battlefield. Now available for PSP, XBox, Windows, OSX, or real military organizations with budgets over $10 billion annually.

Remember: "War ain't hell anymore. Now it's just a computer game."

Heaven help us all. :(

I know a guy who was a flight instructor.  Dropped 3 helicopters and walked away.  Lots of bubble shaped glass on the runway though.  Funny but he never had a problem setting down a fixed wing aircraft.

Instead of stealing baby coach wheels to make a Go Cart, kids will be stealing bleach and kerosene for home made fuel.

For a bit of detail try www.jetpackinternational.com. And, yes, I have sent off an application for a traineeship. I like the rocket in the first video, but it has nothing like the maneuverability I want....

Although, I'd still love one....
